Not that he was the dirtiest, but I’m gonna say the former Boston Bruin, Lyndon “LB” Byers, only because I enjoy him on the local morning radio show (WAAF in Boston). Although, he did kick some ass in his day.

Link Gaets (sp?) from the Minnestota North Stars. The only person to be thrown out of the NHL for fighting.

The Wings get their revenge for the previous season's dirty hit on Draper. Darren McCarty (25) pummels the coward Claude Lemieux, who turtles on the ice instead of fighting, and will henceforth be known as Claude the Turtle.

I have been a life-long Boston Bruins fan. There have been some pretty dirty players over the years, but I don’t think anyone tops Ulf Samuelsson. His career ending knee-to-knee cheap shot on Cam Neely in 1991 should have resulted in his banishment from the NHL.
I grew up it the era of the Big Bad Bruins and saw lots of tough players - not just Bruins - who could deliver a solid hit. These same players were also capable of putting the puck in the net.
Samuelsson was a goon - a dirty player - nothing more.
