SHARON: A father and his two adult sons were arraigned in Bantam Court Monday on charges stemming from allegations they sexually abused the same young girl in town for years.
Donald E. Simmons, 69, of 11 Sharon Valley Road, has been charged with first- and fourth-degree sexual assault, plus risk of injury to a minor. He posted a $175,000 bond set by Judge Richard M. Marano.
Donald E. Simmons Jr., 49, of 21 Sharon Valley Road, faces second- and fourth-degree sexual assault charges, and also risk of injury to a minor. He is free on a $150,000 bond.
Robert R. Simmons, 48, of 11 Sharon Valley Road, was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He posted an $85,000 bond.
The three were arrested over the weekend on warrants.
In an interview with police, the alleged victim, a teenager who will turn 17 Thursday, claimed the abuse began when she was in the fifth or sixth grade about six years ago.
A report by the state Department of Children and Families concluded her statements made to detectives and social workers over the past two years were consistent with a child who has been chronically abused by multiple offenders.
According to the girl, Donald E. Simmons Jr. entered her bedroom and had sexual contact with her. She was also assaulted by Robert Simmons in the back seat of a car in 2004.
Donald Simmons Sr. and his wife, Beatrice, were in the front seat at the time and Beatrice ordered her son to "stop touching" her.
The girl said when she tried to talk to Beatrice Simmons about the incident after they returned home, Beatrice responded "it never happened,." according to court papers.
Interviewed later by police in the presence of Torrington attorney Michael Merati, Beatrice Simmons claimed her son and the girl were simply "poking each other" in the midsection of the torso. She said she scolded them for their behavior.
Donald Simmons Jr. claimed he was represented by the same attorney. But Merati said Monday he represented Donald Jr. only in an earlier, unrelated matter.
An investigation began after the girl's sister called police.
Initially, the girl denied she had been abused, but finally claimed four men, all related, had assaulted her.
Social workers and school officials said the girl's behavior was consistent with a pattern of abuse. In an interview with police, she said Donald Simmons Sr. began touching her inappropriately when she was 11, telling her "it's OK, it's OK." Within a week, she said, he was reaching under her shirt and rubbing his hand on her breasts, and down her pants and undergarments.
When Robert Simmons began touching her, she told him it wasn't right, she said. He responded by saying he could do anything he wanted to her, according to documents.
A woman who answered the phone at the home of Donald E. Simmons Sr. said no one would comment.
The cases were transferred to Litchfield Superior Court where the district's most serious cases are heard. The Simmonses are due back in court in two weeks.
String’em up..
Maybe I missed it, but did she live with this family? How did they get such access to her?
They don't give details like that, to protect her identity.
I would say so...I think its a sin they got out on bond too. This seems to be a strange case.

So they waited this long to arrest these creeps? Shaking my head again. ~P~
Thinking the same thing myself. Why wouldn't she just avoid these people? What was the situation that she kept being around them? As already said, for legal reasons they can't say. Still, it makes me suspicious. Regardless, if it is all true, string'em all up. Sickos.
WHERE WERE HER PARENTS???
Kooks evaluating Kooks. And they tell jokes about southern red necks.
Have ye'll eard abut em yankee redneck pinies.
I’m wondering if she may have been their foster child. Sick, sick, sick..
i know these sick people . i have lived on the same road growing up. We always knew they were weird. But they are sickoooooos. I hope they all rot in hell including aunt beatrice, whom must have known.
