Dell's Linux desktop line keeps expanding

When Dell first announced that it would be releasing Ubuntu Linux-powered consumer desktops and laptops, some people saw it as more of a stunt than a serious business move. They were wrong. Dell has already expanded its consumer Linux line, and now it has announced that it will soon be offering Ubuntu Linux systems outside of the United States and for new businesses.

They must be having really good sales on these things. At least, good enough to get the corporate bosses to increase the offerings.

I'm thinking that Vista is partially the reason for this. When is someone going to invent a pop up blocker for the OS itself?

The things which really make Ubuntu are the update and synaptic package managers. I keep one windows machine around to run turbutax on any more and that’s about it.

what browser, audio media player, video media player and video packaging software work best with ubuntu?

Browser: Firefox (comes with Ubuntu)

Media player: (tie) Rhythmbox (comes with Ubuntu) and Amarok (comes with Kubuntu)

Video player: VLC and Xine

Video packaging: Not sure, but I made a video slideshow with QDVDAuthor and then used Avidemux to add a music soundtrack...there’s also Kino
