North American union plan headed to Congress in fall

WASHINGTON – A powerful think tank chaired by former Sen. Sam Nunn and guided by trustees including Richard Armitage, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Harold Brown, William Cohen and Henry Kissinger, is in the final stages of preparing a report to the White House and U.S. Congress on the benefits of integrating the U.S., Mexico and Canada into one political, economic and security bloc.

The final report, published in English, Spanish and French, is scheduled for submission to all three governments by Sept. 30, according to the Center for Strategic & International Studies.

CSIS boasts of playing a large role in the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1994 – a treaty that set in motion a political movement many believe resembles the early stages of the European Community on its way to becoming the European Union.

"The results of the study will enable policymakers to make sound, strategic, long-range policy decisions about North America, with an emphasis on regional integration," explains Armand B. Peschard-Sverdrup, director of CSIS' Mexico Project. "Specifically, the project will focus on a detailed examination of future scenarios, which are based on current trends, and involve six areas of critical importance to the trilateral relationship: labor mobility, energy, the environment, security, competitiveness and border infrastructure and logistics."

on the third one, we probably will choose not to rely on the dependability of your prediction given your past record on such matters.

If you have a specific example of a prediction I made, you should share. Of course given your past record on such matters, you're making stuff up again.

So how many candidates are pushing the NAU again?

You're not asking the right question. Who that supports the SPP is donating to the candidates? Let's see where they're getting the money from. Then we'll know how they'll vote when they're in office.

More trade is better.

ESPECIALLY if you're a communist, socialist or totalitarian dictator. Look at the billionares that you unprincipled "free traders" are creating! Nothing like giving power and MONEY to a despot-- it's especially heartwarming for all the America haters out there.

I read somewhere today that we can thank the Chinese for our retirees benefits. Somehow their investment in our stockmarket is going to keep our retirees solvent because there are so many of them, and so few of us.

Cheaper foreign goods are bad?"

They are bad when they are used to mask inflation and prop up the corrupt policies of the current white house.

Yeah, lots of communist, socialist or totalitarian dictators benefiting from NAFTA. Not to mention every American who shops and every American who works for a company that exports.

CSIS boasts of playing a large role in the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1994 –

CSIS (and the ultraliberal RAND corporation) boasts of playing a large role in the creation of the Department of Homeland Security–and they are making money hand over fist as the group chosen by the feds to implement many of the programs.

“Modest? Exports to Mexico better than tripled since NAFTA. Exports to Canada more than doubled.”

Jeesh. I see your confusing exports with imports again. No wonder you think Nafta is great. One more time now remember. Imports are what we buy and exports are what we sell.

(Our imports from Mexico increased from $39 billion in 1993 to $198 billion in 2007).

Jeesh. I see your confusing exports with imports again.

You are mistaken. Exports to Mexico were $41.6 billion in 1993 (that'd be before NAFTA) and were $133.98 billion in 2006. Like I said, "Exports to Mexico better than tripled since NAFTA"

Exports to Canada were $100.4 billion in 1993 (that'd be before NAFTA) and were $230.6 billion in 2006. Like I said, "Exports to Canada more than doubled.”

(Our imports from Mexico increased from $39 billion in 1993 to $198 billion in 2007).

You're right.

what they euphemistically are saying in the White House, and their buddies in this CSIS....they think the US is overpaid.

Yes, I think there are a few "elite" out there who aren't happy with the afluence of the American middle class.
