Mostly I don’t care. As long as it is financially secure, I have nothing to hide. You go out to the store and there are cameras everywhere. That’s worse. But hey, I don’t live in an invisible world.

They know my IP address!!??
Well, since they already know it, I'll just post it on FR for all to see. I mean, why fight the inevitable?

There. Now they know everything there is to know about me, and you do too. :-)

I have nothing to hide. In that case, you won't mind if we rescind your Fourth Amendment rights, will you?

Many moons ago, there was a Freeper named Coral Snake. He was a rabid anti-linux zealot (at first). Someone posted that little applet that has a smiley face holding up a sign that lays out your ip address, os and browser type.
This doofus FREAKED OUT and accused whoever posted the graphic of hacking his computer.
It was funny and sad at the same time.....
Once he became somewhat educated, he became more open to linux. I think he ended up getting kicked off FR and hangs out at liberty post or whatever the graveyard of forgotten freepers calls itself.

Over the top nonsense.
Microsoft has in essence become the IT department for millions of home PC users. If Microsoft didn’t do it, someone would need to step up and do so.
And the data is used to provide empirical and irrefutable evidence to device vendors as to why they need to clean up their programming to improve user experience.

Nope, this is your local IP address. Microsoft can see the one provider is giving you. Go to any website where user's comments are logged with their IP address and post a comment there. Your IP address will be revealed, and it is not 192.168.0.100.

This will be abused eventually, mark my words. Uncle Sam won’t be able to stand the fact that someone has such detailed information about the public at large and they don’t have their hands on it.
