The countdown is on! We're all waiting. Let's talk about it while we're waiting.
This countdown ticks down the time to both the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film.
Countdown clocks can be found at http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/#static:countdowns
Good point. I have to say the British baby-talk makes me gag.
I remember that thread. Pretty far out, imo ... but I still (as a mother of teenagers!) find Ginny’s behavior objectionable.
Not that I don’t understand - after spending her life with all those older brothers, she probably gets a kick out of being able to manipulate boys.
bttt
What's the expression? "Red on the head, fire down below"?
ooooooh, that can be taken in oh so many (mostly improper) ways.
;-)
But I know what you mean.
Showdown at Gingrotts?
Humph ... I wasn’t thinking about that at ALL!
Of course, if the boys were all younger, as in my family, she’d have changed so many diapers and mopped up so many piddle-puddles that she’d be an old maid with cats :-).
Showdown at Gringotts seems plausible, since we’ve gotten some hints that all is not well with the non-human magical world...house elves, goblins, giants. Think about the fountain at the Ministry of Magic, the goblin is gazing adoringly at the witch and wizard, and something about it rings false to Harry. We keep hearing references in the History of Magic classes about the Goblin Wars. The humans subjugated a lot of other races (species?).
Ron with the sword of Gryffindor, hmmmmm. Could the Weasleys be decendents of Gryffindor?
I really hope that means high spirited because if it means anything else - I'm locking my redhead in her bedroom till she's gone gray.
Maybe it means redheads have more heartburn? :p
You could let her color her hair purple, like my redhaired daughter wants to :-).
Well, sure, of course. I mean, what else could it possibly mean?
TS
... unless it's her ability to manipulate boys . . .
Okay, I'm going to run and hide now...
If it were a realistic British school, you’d be right on target!
Are you going to let her? My husband and I had this discussion awhile ago. I say if the girls are behaving, doing good in school, responsible......they can do whatever they want with their hair. It would kill me to let Presley do it because she’s got such pretty hair but if when she turns 16 - she wants to color it purple - I think I would let her. Now body piercings and tattoos? Ain’t gonna happen!
Anoreth had red streaks in her hair earlier this year, and it didn’t look bad. We got temporary color, but it lasted longer than expected. It didn’t look too shocking with her natural (light red/orange, you can see her on my profile page in the Christmas-tree pic).
I’ve agreed in principle to another color, but we’re putting it off until after my parents visit next week :-). We’ll go to “Sally Beauty Supply” and talk to the clerk about what type of color is likely to look okay and not last too long. Then if she really wants purple, okay. It will match the used car we just bought for her to drive: “The Purple Thing.”
She got her ears pierced recently, too, and bought some cute earrings with little bats (at the nature center!) to wear to an upcoming church youth conference. “The short girl with the purple hair and bats in her ears, who knows all the Bible and theology!”
I know I'm geekin out here, but this made me cry...
Twenty days...
Cute kids! Yeah, in this day and age when they get to be teenagers and the worst thing they want to do is color their hair - I just hope I’m that lucky! I live about a mile from one of the high schools and really - the things I see scare me half to death. I shudder when I think about what it will be like in ten years when my kids are in their teens.
Steady!
I worry about my kids, too, although more about lack of motivation than about anything truly disastrous! Reminds me I need to get the community college catalog and see what Anoreth can take there in the fall. She wants to learn auto mechanics!
Nevilles going to kill Bellatrix to avenge his parents. What would be cool is that when she dies, his parents come out of their madness. That’s what I want to see happen anyway. :)
