You wouldn't happen to know where Paonia is then would you? I have an enclave of relatives--of the crazy and non-crazy variety--that live there. I don't think Salida is near that end of the state, Paonia is about 60 miles as the crow flies from Grand Junction. Although if you're in that neck of the woods, I caught 2 decent sized rainbow trout...if you don't have a flyrod, Mepps spinners will do the trick.
I don't know what property taxes are like up in Sandpoint, but out here in the State of Ada my grandparents have about 6 acres and they pay fairly steep property taxes. Makes me wonder how long it'll be a "bargain"...
My uncle, now deceased, moved to Costa Rica in the 1950’s. Raised a family, started a newspaper (The Tico Times) and lived the rest of his life there. He loved CR but still came to the U.S. every year for his health care.
Bookmarked
Have you ever heard of the Pfeiffer Brothers? I think they are based in Salida.
They play traditional cowboy music. Joe-Bob says, check them out.
Don’t worry, we will soon be loaded with nuclear power.

but electricity, gas for your car, presciptions, food, clothes, etc will be more expensive.....
the main thing really is staying close enough to your kids and grandkids...that is the only reason I would move from my 5 acres in the country....
Texas Tech has recently opened a branch there.
