I was in a situatio very similar to this, the difference was that a child on a bick ran into my car. The kid was fine, but was wailing and bawling. My friend and I got out to check on him and people started coming out of the apartment buildings. I looked up and it was like a swarm was descending on us.

Luckily, the police arrived very quickly and sent everyone home. The child admitted that he wasn’t even looking where he was riding and hit my car. His “parents” (I think aunt and uncle, but not sure) said he does this all the time and wasn’t even supposed to be out at that time of day.

I ended up getting of lightly, but before the police arrived I was truly scared for my life.

I was in a similar situation but it was in the backwoods of Nigeria. We had instructions from the Nigerian police that if any incident occurred between us and the locals that the very first thing we should do is to drive away from the area as quickly as possible and go to the nearest police station. “Incidents” with the locals included something as insignificant as accidentally running over someone’s chicken. One could get mauled by the locals for running over a chicken.

I wouldn’t expect the kind of conduct described in the posted story to be happening in this country but.....one always has to consider the source of the violence.
