My son was very verbal BY two. You could carry on conversations with him and he would use complete sentences. What was very enlightening about that was that it showed to me that two year olds know a whole heck of a lot more about what’s going on than most can verbalize. This kid knows what happened. He’s just describing it as he saw it. You could be right about the new rug. It’s hard getting into a toddler’s mind sometimes.
So often, when a toddler gets in trouble, they play the shy, I don’t know what you’re talking about game and won’t answer you. When I was in the church nursery and some kid would start causing trouble and I’d talk to them about it, they’d ignore me and I’d tell them that I knew they understood me and they should listen. You wouldn’t believe the dirty looks I got from two year olds. I know that that’s not ALL of them, but they know more than they let on.
I just hope this wasn’t so traumatic for this kid that he remembers it. It seems like it would be a blessing to forget something like that.
Yes, so was mine. And has a memory that is out of this world. I don't believe that all two year olds don't remember things when they get older.
