It’s not that. It already does good for a regular DVD player. It’s just that 2megapixel 1080p looks a whole lot better than 500 thousand pixels 480p.

I understand... I was referring to the algorithm in the firmware that handles upconverting in the PS3. I have owned an HDTV since 1998. I was involved with DVHS and DTheater before HDDVD and Bluray. I sold all of my HDDVD stuff and kept the BD. I still have my DVHS players and about 1000 HD movies recorded from C-Band satellite in HD.
