"Since you seem to be ok with the stupid awards, and are a teacher to boot, why don't you explain to the rest of us what would cause a teacher to give out an award like this ?" I'm okay with the silly awards, there's nothing wrong with that, had them in my classroom many years as well. Many people here have testified that they've enjoyed them too, doesn't mean they are 'stupid' to everyone who participates. I've already given some personal anecdotes from my teaching experience. I also already said the teachers shouldn't have done this publicly. If they're sitting around the teacher's lounge eating lunch and chatting, "Oh, that Junior!! He is getting on my last nerve! Today he took all the sharpened pencils off my desk and broke each one of them, right before we were supposed to take that practice standardized test!! I hope he never has a kid like himself!" "Yeah, he should get the "Most Likely Not to have Kids" award because he can't sit still long enough to ever get married! Yuk, yuk!!"-- fine. I have no problem with that. They shouldn't have done this in public though, I agree. My whole point is that people are dumping on the teachers, who haven't given their side of the story. Their names have been posted by the media (see the video at the source) and we don't know why they did this. We don't even know if they HAVEN'T given an apology. I guarantee this boy's family is seeing dollar signs and are consulting with a lawyer to see how much $$$$ they can get out of the school system paid with OUR tax dollars for this HORRIBLEHORRIBLECRIMEOHMYGODHISLIFEISOVER!!!!!
