Last night the ‘leader’ stated that they follow Mormonizm as it was received from Smith - with polygamous behavior originally included - he said something about how can polygamy be simply taken out of the original teaching - he has a point.

He does have a point, but LDS basically says that LDS Fundamentalist don’t have a point. I actually think the Mormon Fundamentalist are the ones who are truly Mormons, and not LDS. Scary stuff!

So if one believes that Joseph Smith was truly a prophet of God, then maybe he has a point. On the other hand, the office of President, in Mormon theology and practice includes the mantle of the prophet and they are free to change pretty much anything they want to as a matter of continuing revelation.

I think both sides are wrong in this controversy.
