“That said, she should still get time off for good behavior same as anyone else.”
I doubt there’s any chance of that. Not anymore. They have to make an example of her now. Prove that the law applies to everyone equally. Events will be very closely scrutinized from here on out, and you know that judge is watching the sheriff’s dept for any sign of a pay-off.

From what I heard on Fox last night, the federal order to alleviate overcrowding in that particular detention system was aimed only at male inmates. Female barracks, apparently, are not overcrowded.

Female barracks, apparently, are not overcrowded.Hilton was housed in the "special needs" unit of the 13-year-old jail, separate from most of its 2,200 inmates. The unit contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates. She didn't have a cellmate

It’s like the Andy Griffith episode where the snotty kid wouldn’t follow the rules w/ his bike, so Andy confiscated it. The kid’s dad comes to straighten it out, the kids screams and has a fit, the dad sees the error of his ways, takes the kid to the woodshed.
Paris should have been taken to the woodshed about 20 years ago.

It’s too bad Strother Martin isn’t around around to get that skank to work on the chain gang.

I saw a report today on FOXNews and it was said that when she was born her mother said something to the effect that she would be more famous than Princess Diana, that her baby is a star and can have anything she wants.
Paris was educated in a posh school for the v e ry rich in New York, dropped out during high school, was trained as a model and took acting lessons.
It would seem to me, that Paris is a product of her parents style of parenting. Paris grew up into a self absorbed, self centered, narcissistic individual who thinks the world revolves around her. She is about to find out, or is finding out, that she is no better than any one else and break the rules...you will be forced to face up to your responsibility.
They are reaping what they sewed and the rooster has come home to roost.

“You dont seriously mean that, do you? Why does the judge get to decide on her sentence? Hes the judge.”
Some of these comments are truly horrifying aren’t they? What are these people doing on Free Republic!
“Let’s not send her to jail! She’s famous! She shouldn’t have to obey the law! How mean!”

I have no problem with where shes housed. There obviously needs to be a special section. My problem is the people who act as though shes being terribly mistreated. Shes hardly at the point to sing Nobody knows the trouble Ive seen. Please God, don't let her sing. Her "acting" is painful enough.

No mention of overcrowding. Again, recalling Fox last night, the sheriff is within his rights to overrule the judge and issue an order of early release/ house detention ONLY to alleviate overcrowding, and again--it is ONLY the men's barracks under the federal order. Anyone who thinks that this sheriff did the right thing needs to figure out what the hell we have judges for.
FCOL, Hilton could have hired a fleet of drivers to cart her bony ass around for the duration of her suspension. Us little folks don't have that option. She has absolutely no regard for the law.
So go ahead, all you nambypams! Rally for the freedom of Paris Hilton. Sit outside the jail and sing kumbaya. Maybe next time she goes on a tipsy travel she'll kill someone.

LOL! I think you have it right.
I wonder if the Sheriff is a Democrat since Paris is reportedly a Democrat. Her being unable to finish high school and screaming and shouting "Mom" sounds like she might be somewhat mentally retarded as well as a spoiled brat.

DUI Sept 2006. Then this: She was pulled over by California Highway Patrol on Jan. 15. Officers informed Hilton she was driving on a suspended license and she signed a document acknowledging she was not to drive. She then was pulled over by sheriff's deputies on Feb. 27, at which time she was charged with violating probation. Oh, I didn't know she was a murderess....
I didn't say the sentence wasn't fit, I said that Freepers are acting like a peasant mob with torches and pitchforks.

She needs to get a little more creative. With 45 days in the slammer she ought to be able to start work on starring in remakes of skank dramas Born Innocent and Jan Brady's 1970s bad-girl classic Dawn:Portrait of a Teenage Runaway.

Is the county lock up equipted to deal with drug detox?I assume that if they can't deal with it in house, they know how to spot it and when to refer to a hospital. Paris could hardly be the first inmate to come down hard in custody.
At one point in the Fox coverage, Greta described Paris as shaking and twitching in court. That could have simply been extreme stress. Shep and Geraldo tried to draw a diagnosis out of her, but to her credit, Greta would say only that she "looked sick," and that she was not an expert or a doctor. Greta was smart not to weigh in.
I am also not an expert or a doctor. What I am about so say is pure speculation, nothing but rumor, and should be treated as such. But it sounds like DTs to me.

All kidding aside, do you think she may be somewhat mentally retarded? She certainly seems to be... off in some way.

You got that right. She had a cell alone. It just wasn't as big as her house. ;)
Btw, in my neck of the woods, the sentencing judge has to agree to an early release for overcrowding. I believe that I read on the thread that this judge had to also. And that the sheriff released her figuring the judge would sign off on it. Guess that would be an "Oops!"
And from the article that I read, Hilton was making the officers life hell.
Citing 'Medical' Reasons, Sheriff Sends Paris Hilton Home to Finish Sentence
"She cries all day," a source told the publication. "She looks unwashed, she has no makeup and her hair is tangled. She cried audibly through the first two nights."
On the heels of reports that Hilton had been crying in jail and receiving visits from her psychiatrist, reporters at the press conference seemed to think that the heiress had manipulated her jailers.
Kyle Richards, an aunt of Hilton's, said earlier that Hilton was doing well but was bored in jail.
