Paris Hilton Sent Back to Jail
Fox News | 6/8/07

Posted on 06/08/2007 12:23:57 PM PDT by pabianice

A "screaming" Paris Hilton has been dragged off to serve her full 45 days in jail. Reportedly screamed and called to her mother as she was taken away. More.

I feel sorry for her too. I think the judge has a wild burr, too, or maybe grandiose plans to be Attorney General or something.

> as a lawyer, I can advise you that you are not considering the facts.

> For a violation of DUI/DWI probation by driving while your license is suspended for that same DUI/DWI sentence, 45 days is NOT that dramatic or a departure. Given the multiple violaitons, I am surprised she did not get 60 days.

Ummmm... I think we are arguing the same side here? In #502 I have said:

>> If it is anything less than 45 days in the clink for recidivist scofflaw behavior, then I conclude that your legal friends and you are a large part of the problem with modern society.

I too am surprised that she didn’t get substantially more than 45 days — and delighted that she got all of that much at least.

I’ve asked the question of LVHitman what he thinks would be fair, given that he believes the Courts have dealt with the hapless felon Paris Hilton too harshly.

> While we may argue about this case, the fact is your observations would have to be implemented at the legislative level in order to be equal to all.

I agree that the cat o’nine tails sentencing guidlines I proposed in #502 would probably require legislation to be carried out. It would certainly deter the felon from wearing cute strapless numbers with plunging backlines for a wee while...

With those quotes, we can all see that she’s a brain trust in her own, individual right.

That’s what I think, too. Some Glory-seeking judge trying to make a name for himself by appealing to all the other law-breakers who don’t get out early.

As at least one other poster has pointed out, justice is a capricious beast and sentencing is mostly an art, not a science. If it were you or I who stole and destroyed top secret documents stolen from the National Archives, we'd be in a maximum security prison right about now. Let's concentrate on stuff that actually matters. Berger should be in prison and Ramos and Campeon should not.

Accountability and consequence are a completely new experience for this poorly raised brat.

She should have gone through this phase at 3 years old. This is what a spoiled adult looks like, and it's not pretty.

Sorry but the law applies to Paris Hilton too. Just because there are miscarriages of justice doesn’t mean she should get off. She broke the law. Knowingly. There are too many on FR that seem to think she’s being persecuted. Hogwash.

I would check his bank account to see if there have been any large deposits in the past few days.

I told my husband the same thing after I had heard she was released to "house arrest."

Not Sheriff Baca. He must have had a darn good reason to do what he did, because he has a reputation as a hard ass.

Compare crybaby Paris with Martha Stewart. It could be argued that Martha was punished much too severely, and yet she handled her bad situation with tremendous grace.

LOL. There are well over 11,000 “views” on this thread with about 550 comments as of this moment (and these numbers will increase). I find this interesting and disturbing on any number of levels.

Actually, so do I. But what disturbs me the most is Freepers who think she shouldn’t be held accountable.

"it’s wrong to have sprung her and then send her back" Perhaps, but that blame lies with her lawyers. They knew they were skirting the law. They must have anticipated this would happen and, if the sheriff's department didn't think they needed the judge's permission they wouldn't have asked him to sign off on it. Clearly, these guys must have known there was a potential for this happening and they allowed it to happen, despite the alleged fragile state of their client. If they had followed proper channels, she wouldn't have had her heart broken. Incidentally, I'm getting a little tired of everyone talking about her like she's a child with no control over what happens in her life. At her age, I was taking care of a home, a husband, 2 kids, a third on the way and baby-sitting 2 others. At some point, this gal has to take control of her life.

That’s funny, I could be mistaken, as I haven’t read all of the comments, but from what I have read, that doesn’t seem to be a problem.

“Not Sheriff Baca. He must have had a darn good reason to do what he did, because he has a reputation as a hard ass.” Actually, if the talking heads on Fox are accurate, he has been described as having a pattern of “celebrity worship.”

across the USA i with certainty predict at least 1/3 have done video tests for their own TV show or commentary shows or news reader audition tape.

In LA? the number might be higher.

That’s how I got into this thread. I saw that some thought she was being treated unfairly when I had read the other day that she knowingly drove on a suspended. One poster called her a mistreated “china doll”. Unnnngh! Feel sorry for Scooter. He deserves it.

I’d venture a guess that this is the first “fair” thing to ever happen to Miss Hilton.
