It is a lap=top= with a builtin keyboard, which I am not skillful enough to rep=lace. It think I inadverdently hit a wrong key.

You might take a look and see if there are crumbs etc. in the keyboard. If you think its a software issue, then try to restore the computer to an earlier time, but I suspect that it’s just a worn out keyboard.

After turning it off and back on, I would vacuum the keyboard if it still causes problems. Seriously. A little bit of crap in the keyboard can cause a lot of problems.

On a laptop that is giving you mathematical symbols when letters are pressed....look for the little light that indicates the “function” key (or similar) has been pressed and locked on. This will give alternate symbols when letter keys are pressed. This is so you can use the keyboard as a number pad for programs like Excel or others when mathematical notation is useful.
