Update

No one arrested yet in bizarre street battle

June 4, 2007 06:02 PM

While one man remains in the hospital, no one’s been arrested after a bizarre battle on city streets.

Police say that will likely change.

This was a strange fight with strange weapons that spread into the neighborhood.

Combat police say they will not ignore it.

Saturday afternoon, scattered across Joslin Street, an arsenal of medieval weapons that included a battle ax, a crossbow, a small sword, leftover from an all out battle in the street.

Still, two days-later, no one has been arrested.

“There have not been any charges filed. You have to understand that some of these people were in pretty bad shape,” said Huntsville Police Officer Wendell Johnson.

Three people were in the fight.

One is in the hospital, expected to live and two others are just fine.

Pat Tordt spoke only with the WAFF 48 Investigators, telling us he feared for his life.

“If he hits me in the head with this bat it’s going to kill me so I stabbed dude in the back,” said Tordt.

“These people were serious. You don’t come at someone with hatchets, bats, sticks, knives, you know, and things like this. There intention there was to do great bodily harm and I’m certain that Huntsville Police is going to do something about it,” says Johnson.

There were three men involved in that fight.

How many will actually potentially face charges is not known.
