I was told there was a John Culpepper on the Mayflower.
My Dad was a 22 year old LT (j.g.) in command of U.S. LCT 457 on UTAH Beach.
He had bulldozers and TNT on his boat. He and his boat were on the way to the Pacific when the war ended.

The LCT, or Landing Craft, Tank is about 110 feet long, and they were often carried aboard LSTs, Landing Ship, Tank just to get to their theatre of operations:
