Kurst submarine T.V. show
Cable T.V. | 5-30-07 | Terry55

After watching a show discussing the controversy over the Russian Kurst Submarine sinking and reading a thread on this website, my question is why on the T.V. show did they say that the U.S. paid for the recovery of the sub? On the show the narrator continued saying different parts of the recovery cost so many "U.S. dollars"?

‘400000000 bazillion gazillion rubles’ isn’t a real meaningful # to us Yanks.

I echo R4F’s comments and add that the US dollar is, more or less, the worldwide standard.

I heard it to say “Equivalent U.S. Dollars.”

Interesting program. Even more interesting is how the Soviets played fast an loose with design and safety with submarines.

If you are talking about he Kursk, the US and UK tried to help rescue the crew, but the (formerly known as)USSR dragged their feet until it was to late.

Hi Fred, and all who’ve commented. SERIOUSLY, I have no special LOVE for mother Russia, being born a free citizen of the U.S. But having grown up during the Vietnam era, I really know how much you can rely on any government to disclose everything that goes on. Actually, believe it or not, I WAS NOT AT THE KURST SINKING and I objectively question what goes on, not ASSUMING that I OBVIOUSLY DON’T KNOW what really happened, knowing what happens to the best of us who ASSUME THAT WE KNOW. Peace and love to all, even to those of Russian decent.
