My choice is a ruger special run bisley black-hawk SS in 45LC. With the +P corbon ammo that the ruger will handle it will stop a bear (already has and not by choice) or a big hog.
My choice of rifles is a little bit off beat. I prefer the 280AI stoked with 170 Nosler CT bullets running out at just under 3000 FPS. If it doesn't bite back the 280AI gets the call. The AI has taken black bear, moose, elk, deer, and hogs with a single well placed shot. To tell you the truth I don't remember how many animals I have harvested with my 280AI.

An Ackley Improved? Good grief, my old copy of Phil Sharpe's Complete Guide to Handloading (1951?) has a whole section on that cartridge!

You know, with the .348 Win in my stable, I have absolutely no room to fuss at anybody who likes wildcats or orphans . . . .
