Bibs for cats could cut toll on wildlife
The Guardian ^ | 05/25/07 | Ian Sample

Posted on 05/25/2007 5:47:11 PM PDT by JRochelle

Scientists investigating the unpleasant problem of what the cat drags in believe they have found a way to curb felines' predatory urges. A study by conservationists has revealed that the number of birds, rodents and other creatures captured by cats fell dramatically if the pets were fitted with brightly coloured, clip-on bibs that hindered their ability to stalk and pounce.

Cats fitted with the bibs were seemingly still able to eat, run and groom themselves, but were rendered less of a threat to other wildlife, the researchers found.

No.

Was that a threat?

Like I said earlier, I missed the “thou shalt not upset the cat lovers” part of the ToS when I signed up.

If not being able to speak my opinion about cats is part of the ToS on here then ban me. I do have a life outside of this place. I will just go back to reading like I have for quite some time.

Some of the people on this thread are very liberal in their thinking anyways. Typical of the Republican party these days. They are Republicans so they think that means they are conservatives. Witness the banning of all the posers pushing the liberal Guliani here.

When I am mocked for believing in the right to control what happens on my own property then i know I am not dealing with a true conservative, but with a poser, a wanna be, and a RINO.

Or maybe... it’s just that some suspend their conservative beliefs when it conflicts with loving their cats.

But I doubt it. Just the other day i took a lot of flack on here for thinking parents should not let their children vandalize other people’s property.

Maybe I AM in the wrong place... Maybe I need to find a place where true conservatives meet...

Actually, I do see many conservatives on here. The CINOs make me wanna puke though.

PS. You do whatever you want to do with your cat. Just keep them off my property. If they come onto my property it might console you to know I would take care to make sure they are killed instantly with one shot. I don’t like to see animals suffer.

Actually, yes I have.

Not here though. On another site. I couldn’t hide the fact that I was a conservative well enough. Asked too many questions. But it was OK. I expected to be banned anyways. They hate people like me over at DU. Yes, that’s where I was banned.

Got a problem with that? Get over it.

Did you know that that is against the law?

It might be where you live but it’s not where I live.

Besides, if they damage my property while on my property I can legally kill them almost anywhere.

Besides, if I ever would do such a thing, I would shoot, shovel, and shut up.

Bottom line. Keep your cats off my property. Period.

I don’t know of any states that allow you to shoot cats. Not even Wisconsin.....what state are you in?

No. You can't. They tried to make it legal in Wisconsin and the proposed law was shot down. Your views are lefty views.

Bet you've been here before and been banned.

For only $8.95 you can save HUNDREDS OF BIRDS! Save just one bird and you've paid for the CatBib!

From the link:

Available in 5 colors: Blue, Pink, Teal, Burgundy, and Purrple.

My mau's not an outdoor cat, but he wouldn't be caught dead in any of those colors. Too bad they don't have a tiger stripe or leopard print...

Let’s do some creative editing, shall we?

“It might be where you live but it’s not where I live.

Besides, if they damage my property while on my property I can legally kill them almost anywhere.

Besides, if I ever would do such a thing, I would shoot, shovel, and shut up.

Bottom line. Keep your cats kids off my property. Period.”

Or how about:
"Bottom line. Keep your cats spouse off my property. Period."

Better yet:
"Bottom line. Keep your cats SELF off my property. Period."

Hmm.. reading your posts tells me that you are possibly trollish.

And I have very strong feelings about cats being allowed to kill wildlife. Negative feelings.

I hate to tell you this, but cats are designed for killing wildlife. They are obligate carnivores.

“Was that a threat?”

Only trolls think that question is a threat.
Matter of fact, had a troll I ran over say that exact same thing.

I’d like to see him tell a bobcat, or mountainlion, that it can’t hunt.

I hope a cat sprays his car.

Wow, how snide and nasty!
Cats are natural predators.
Always have been since the dawn of time.
Lions, cheetahs, cougar, bobcat, ocelots, they are all natural predators.
Just because J.P. Tabby likes his fuzzy roost on a couch doesn’t make him any less of a predator.

Now, as for your post of releasing 1000 wolves in someone’s yard, there wouldn’t be enough space for them all, they’d all fight among themselves.
And that would provide me with hours of quite bloody entertainment as the wolves struggle to dominate each other into their natural social INSTINCTUAL order.

Now, I COULD release 1000 deer ticks into your underwear drawers...

I’d pay money to see that.
I’d even supply the cat.

By the way, only Liberals seek to change, alter, or deny an wild animal it’s natural behavior.
Look up Timothy Treadwell.

This guy is crying that cats are killing songbirds but never mentions man as a bigger threat. Gotta have those McMansions and malls you know. Who cares if we cut down animal habitats to get a NEW mall that's sssooooooooooooo much better than that antiquated one from the 50's. Or 70's. Or 80's. Man threatens more animals that anybodys tabby ever did. I'm all for capitalism as it works great but "stupid" and "waste" has never thrilled me.

And NO ONE has mentioned BELLING THE CATS!

But.. but.. but.. that would take away the whole premise of the whine: the songbirds would take off once they heard the bells.
