Senate (Sessions) Speech On Amnesty Bill
C-SPAN2 ^ | 5/25/07 | Self

Posted on 05/25/2007 8:53:21 AM PDT by angkor

Don't know how much longer this will last, but on C-SPAN2 Sen. Sessions is ripping apart the Shamnesty bill, and has been doing so for the last 45 minutes. Point by point, line by line, he's decoding the impossible requirements of the bill, some of which are so ridiculous that he's actually been laughing at them.

This is refreshing straight talk from a Senator.

Prior to Sessions, McCrazy gave a lengthy speech that started out sounding like a critique of the bill. Then (remember this is McCrazy we're talking about), he went on to pout and complain and insist that it get passed and that everyone including citizens like it. Because there's no other choice.

He is pissed, he's talking straight-up, and he's what a Conservative SHOULD be.

God Bless 'em....

Earlier I'd heard he had 3 hours reserved.

Man, he is good.

He went for nearly an hour pinpointing the numerous flaws in the bill, and for the first time I know of, exposed the despicable process used to produce it AND how Frist rammed through last year’s bill.

I watched Session’s entire speech, and there can be no Republicans in that room who weren’t squirming, nor any Democrats who could keep a straight face on what they’re shoving up our collective butts....

Salazar from Colorado has the podium now, I guess the Republicans used up their 3 hours.

Frist was a total sell-out, glad to hear he dropped any and all plans for the WH; Kyle used to sound real good. Met the guy in D.C. and was very, very impressed with him.

The Bushies obviously got him to carry their slop to the trough for them (and John McCain) so that this giveaway of America to Mexico and every other 3rd World Country.

Too bad for Kyle. I predict he'll either find other work or end his term in relative obscurity, if conservatives decide to leave him to serve them (unless there are enough RINOs that love having all of their illegal alien employees, to keep him in office.)

Sessions is a stand-up guy. He, Tom Coburn, Jim Bunning and DeMint are the only members of the senate I fully trust

Listening to this RAT now ...

Laws aren’t being enforced so that’s why we need this “comprehensive” legislation ...

I am getting more and more TICKED!!!

All these security measures that Senator Salazar is mentioning, I must ask ...

WHY CAN’T THESE IDIOTS DO THIS WITHOUT THE ADDED SHAMNESTY?!

He made a mockery of the “triggers” and the promises for the future.

Said none of the detention centers would “*ever*” be built, just like there’s no entry/exit tracking system despite passage many years ago. “If the President wanted it, we’d have it. If Congress wanted it, it would be built.”

Unveiled that the “provisional” Z visa *never* expires. If I heard correctly the “provisional” Z visa is tied to some triggers that when invoked, make the provisional Z visa expire in six months. But his staff confirmed with staffers at the Judiciary Committe that in practice the “provisional” Z visa has no effective expiration date.

Salazar is now making promized about the detention centers that Sessions said “will never be built, it’s not gonna’ happen.”

And many other promises from Salazar, I guess to match the many other immigration promises that have been enacted but never funded.

Bob Livingston or Don Nickels might find a slot for him at their very prosperous DC lobbying firms.

Salazar is having a hoot at that familiar straw man, deportation. McCrazy used it too.

Sessions blasted those who were using the deportation straw man: “You know how many of us have asked for deportation!?!? Zero!!” He was PO’d.

Too bad every American doesn’t have the chance to watch his one-hour, off the cuff, point by point critique. It was darned impressive, and informative.

We need to find out if there will be a re-play so those of us who missed it can see it.

Of course, I must be misguided. These critters never do go back to their home towns, why should they, they have nothing in common with us.

They have spent so much time thinking about how "important" they are and about how "important their work is" that they need to stay in the same refined atmosphere, lest they get a real life view of themselves.

LOL, yeah there will be...sometime in the middle of the night!

Sessions did a great job again! However, we must remember that S2611 still passed and so we have to keep pushing them. This being a holiday weekend and with plans for them to return home...I wish every Senator had to deal with about 20-25 people camped out on their tree lawns...maybe they could use a bull horn and read Sessions statements!

Call or email his Senate office. Maybe they recorded it and can make an MPEG for Youtube or something.

Or CSPAN.

Probably not, but worth a shot.
