it was not necessarily plain ol'tired DUMB!

Was too so! If your car is ever stalled on the railroad tracks and you see an approaching train, walk away from the car towards the oncoming train. All the collision debris is going to be going the same way as the train.

She had a fair fighting chance of survival if the train struck the driver's side, she might only be pushed along with the car and benefit from whatever protection it afforded. The initial jolt would cause injuries, but she did manage to survive, in "fair" condition. Her boyfriend, otoh, forgot his protection, for the last time, thank God.

I do wonder sometimes, though, what it would take for some women to leave the jerk that they're with. Talk about a trainwreck of a relationship.

If you ever get an answer for that question please get back to me. Because I really really really wonder what makes some people stay with folk that are just plain wrong for them. For instance, I am certain this guy did not just suddenly get the urge to kill her. He must have been treating her badly for quite some time before the attempted murder.

I am always puzzled by people who stay in situations that are not only unhealthy (be it unhealthy in a mental, spiritual, phsyical etc manner), but also life-threatening at times (or if not outrightly life-threatening then dangerous or damaging, e.g. someone who likes to 'touch' children). I just simply do not comprehend why otherwise logical people would stay with such a person.
