I think this is probably an interesting read. Here are the chapters:
The Greatest Paper Aiplane in the World
The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World
The Five Knots Every Boy Should Know
Stickball
Slingshots
Fossils
Building a Treehouse
Making a Bow and Arrow
Fishing (revised with US Fish)
Timers and Tripwires
Baseball's "Most Valuable Players"
Famous Battles-Including Lexington and Concord, The Alamo, and Gettysburg
Spies-Codes and Ciphers
Making a Go-Cart
Navajo Code Talkers' Dictionary
Girls
Cloud Formations
The States of the U.S.
Mountains of the U.S.
Navigation
The Declaration of Independence
Skimming Stones
Making a Periscope
The Ten Commandments
Common US Trees
Timeline of American History
I would add more sports than baseball. Only about 20% of the boys I know play or care about it.
Hmmm, that's pretty mild stuff.
They left out chapters on making carbide cannons, information on fishing with cherry bombs, shooting, building makeshift submarines and diver's helmets, making smoke bombs with black powder, 10 fun things to do with dynamite caps, beginning base-jumping with homemade parachutes, homemade ski and bicycle jumps, 100 interesting things to do with chemistry sets, etc.
Those, and many more, were routine diversions when I was growing up. Some of us survived and were the better for all the experiences. Modern boys are very underprivileged.
