To: I Drive Too Fast
I just watched the season finale of Numbers that I recorded on 5/18. There was a clip of the upcoming Pirate Master series that I paid closer attention to. In the clip I noticed a boat being rowed by pirates wearing white headgear aka Team White. I just looked at last weeks episode and they didn't show this same clip.

We still have two more pirates to cut adrift before "Team White" makes a reappearance. Just goes to show you that not all the clips they show necessary apply to the episode they are promoting.

ARRR! Mateys! It be Monday and time fer a recap.
But first, I'd like ta say: “Louie is really starting to grate on my nerves!”
Anyway, without further ado, here be yer:

The Captain: Louie
The Officers: Nessa, Sean
The Crew: Azmyth, Ben, Christa, Jay, J. D., Joy, Jupiter, Kendra, Laurel
Sent ta Davy Jones’ Locker: John, Christian, Alexis, Cheryl

Episode 4: Death by Coconuts

Attorney Adrift - Cheryl's Voyage Comes to an End

Spirits are high under Azmyth's leadership, but he must pass the Captain's hat over to Louie after he leads his Crew astray on the Expedition. Realizing the extent of the Captain's power, Louie sets his sights on cutting his rival Joe Don adrift once and for all. However, the introduction of a Royal Pardon that allows the Pirates to place bids for their safety has the potential to change everything. Alliances are broken and Pirates become bitter as everyone gathers at Pirates' Court, where Joe Don's closest associate, Cheryl, is cut adrift because of her alienating demeanor and her lack of popularity with the rest of the crew.

"I didn't bid for the pardon," she explains as she floats out to sea. "I just felt that if they don't want me here, then I'm gonna go. And to be able to say that I didn't succumb to the backstabbing and the lying makes me a better person and I'm so glad I did it."

The Game Has Changed - Jay is Betrayed
After another Pirates' Court, the crew of the Picton Castle heads below deck for the night. Cheryl realizes she barely made it out alive and if it wasn't for Joe Don defending her and Captain Azmyth casting his final vote, it could have been Cheryl floating out to sea instead of Alexis. But Cheryl knows she's not in the clear just yet. "It's evident that the whole game has changed when it comes to the mental aspect of it," she explains. "It's going to be more of a popularity contest and that has changed the whole dynamics of the game."

Cheryl isn't the only pirate to return from Pirates' Court disillusioned. Jay returns to the cabin, still floored by Sean's decision to vote for Alexis despite accepting Jay's bribe to cast his ballot for Cheryl. Sean sits with Jay and apologizes for going back on his word. He explains that he couldn't honor the pact he had made with Jay because he couldn't see a reason to cut Cheryl adrift. "I told you, I shook your hand and looked in your eyes," Sean begins. "I'm not gonna lie to you ever again, but it had to be that way." Jay accepts Sean's apology, but doesn't forgive him. "Sean went back on his word," Jay proclaims. "In essence, Sean is dead to me."

Rise and Shine and Flirt
The next morning, Louie and Azmyth wake the rest of the crew so they can prepare for their next Expedition. As the crew scrubs the deck, Nessa playfully flirts with Joe Don and the former Captain flirts back, splashing seawater all over her. Joy and Cheryl observe Nessa's flirtation, rolling their eyes as Nessa and Joe Don continue to splash each other. Joy realizes that Nessa is manipulating the men, but she points out, "The men are outnumbered in the crew. So while you're trying to work one side, you need to find a way to work the other side because what you think may come right around and bite you in the butt."

Pirate Ship or Cruise Boat? - Azmyth Focuses on Fun
Under Azmyth's leadership, the crew takes some time to genuinely enjoy life on a pirate ship. Everyone cheers as Azmyth swings over the side and dives into the water. "When Azmyth took office and became Captain of the ship, you can tell some things changed," Ben observes. "It's a big party. He didn't quite take it as serious, which is fun for a cruise boat, but on a pirate ship, you gotta be more of a disciplinarian." As the crew gathers on the deck to put on a race between three sea crabs, Ben thinks back to the reign of Joe Don. "He was a hard Captain, but that's the way it should probably be on a pirate ship."

When Cheryl asks Azmyth about his plan for things to come, Azmyth acts somewhat elusive and explains that he must have a conversation with God. Laurel overhears this and comments about how it's becoming increasingly difficult to take Azmyth seriously because of his fake English accent. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew sets sail.

The Frenchman's Treasure

The ship drops anchor and host Cameron Daddo calls the Pirates to the Quarter Deck, where he waits with the key to the next compartment of the Chest of Zanzibar. For the second time in a row, Jay opens the compartment and pulls out a pair of wooden maps and a note from Captain Henry Steel. Cameron reads the note and informs the crew that this treasure was hidden by the ship's Master Craftsman, Olivier Le Grand, a shifty dealmaker who never missed an opportunity to catch his own reflection.

When it's time to pick crews, Captain Azmyth and his two Officers, Jay and Jupiter, are put on the Black Crew while the rest of the Pirates must pick either a red or black shot to determine which crew they'll join. Louie smiles when he picks a red shot, saying, "I am way happy to be on the opposite team as Joe Don. I can not get more pumped than what we're doing here today. It's about taking Joe Don down, whatever we have to do." Once everyone picks their shot, the Black Crew consists of Azmyth, Jay, Jupiter, Laurel, Christa, Cheryl and Joe Don while the Red Crew includes Louie, Ben, Joy, Kendra, Nessa, and Sean. When Sean realizes he's on the same crew as Joy and Kendra, he's disappointed because his crew seems weaker than the Black Crew. "I was just worried, 'cause I mean, you look at the Black Crew today, that is a power crew," he says dejectedly. "Some of the strongest, smartest, fastest people on the Picton are on that crew. So, I mean, I was nervous, man." As the longboats are lowered, Azmyth is confident. "I'm not nervous at all," he confidently proclaims. "Why would I be? I plan on winning."

Coconut Avalanche

For the Expedition, the Pirates will row to shore towards an anchor on the beach, where they'll find a trail into the jungle. Once on the trail, the first crew to the sabotage point can use it to slow down the other crew. Past the sabotage, the Pirates must locate the Croc's Head landmark where they'll find their next clue.

Cameron fires the blunderbuss and the Expedition begins with both crews heading out in their longboats. The Red Crew makes a beeline for the anchor on the beach, beating the Black Crew to shore. The Black Crew isn't far behind as they follow the Red Crew into the jungle. Once everyone runs up the jungle trail, the Black Crew starts to pass the Red crew, reaching the sabotage point first. After the last member of the Black Crew arrives at the sabotage point, they unleash coconuts down the side of the hill onto the Red Crew, knocking the previously injured Joy further down the incline.

X Marks the Spot

Once both crews have passed the sabotage, everyone looks for the Croc's Head landmark. Jay sees a pair of ocean cliffs and comments, "It was crazy. It was like the ocean had actually carved two crocodile heads right into the stone." The Black Crew heads toward the cliffs with the Red Crew tailing behind. Azmyth finds a pile of rocks with a small, wooden box buried underneath. Inside the box, the Pirates find an old parchment with their next clue written on it: "Travel back to a nearby canyon cave where your map fits in a slot. A Treasure concealed will be revealed when X marks the spot." The Black Crew heads off in search of a nearby cave while Sean, who assists an injured Joy, and the rest of the Red Crew, find their box with the same clue.

Azmyth leads the Black Crew into a cave nestled between large rocks. He enters the cave alone, where he places the wooden map on a slot that rests on one of the cave walls. Using a nearby mirror that reflects a ray of sunlight onto the map, Azmyth notices where the reflected light hits the map, creating an "X" image where the treasure must be buried. Emerging from the cave, Azmyth leads the Black Crew back to the beach, assured that he knows exactly where to find the treasure. The Red Crew arrives at the cave shortly after the Black Crew has left, and Ben uses the map and mirror to discover the X on the beach.

Follow the Leader...Astray

Back on the beach, the Black Crew searches for an X near the anchor, since that's where Azmyth had seen the X on the map. No one can find the X, so Azmyth leads his crew farther down the beach. After leading his crew in circles, Azmyth decides to head back with his crew so everyone can take a look at the treasure's location. With the Black Crew gone, the Red Crew arrives at the anchor and just starts digging.

The Black Crew returns to the cave and Azmyth leads everyone inside to look at the map. When everyone realizes the treasure is in fact buried where they just came from, Azmyth admits, "I'm a bastard for putting us away from the anchor." On the beach, the Red Crew continues to dig for awhile before the Black Crew returns. Together, both crews dig up dirt and mud all around the anchor, in search of the buried treasure.

Shortly after Christa mistakenly finds a rock instead of the treasure, the Red Crew yells excitedly when they find the treasure buried under the anchor. Ben fires the blunderbuss, signaling a win for the Red Crew. Sean hoists the treasure chest up in the air. "My first win, it was huge," he says. "Because I felt like we had a handicapped, kind of underdog team, it just goes to show you, it's half physical and half mental." Louie shares everyone's excitement when he realizes what this win means for him: "I got a win and I'm gonna use it to get Joe Don, cut him adrift."

Small Treasure, Big Pardon

The Red Crew brings their treasure back onboard the ship and discovers a secret compartment in the chest with an old parchment. Cameron holds the parchment and the coins are counted. Sean is disappointed to learn that the treasure is only worth $5,000. Cameron informs everyone that it's time to elect a new Captain and everyone quickly nominates Louie. "I don't like being a Captain, I'd rather be a thorn in the Captain's side," he jokes as he accepts the nomination. Louie receives half of the treasure, which is $2500 and he picks Sean and Nessa as his two Officers.

Cameron opens the parchment that also came from the treasure chest, revealing it to be a Royal Pardon. "Whoever has the Pardon can not be cut adrift at Pirates' Court," he explains and hands the Pardon to Captain Louie. Cameron further explains that the Pirates can bid on the Royal Pardon, but all bids must be placed before the Pirates receive the Black Spots. The highest bidder will be revealed at Pirates' Court, where that Pirate must pay the Captain in full whether he or she needs the Pardon or not. Finally, Cameron mentions that if the Pirate who buys the Pardon doesn't use it, they must then sell it before the next Pirates' Court.

Pay for Yer Pardon
As Captain Louie and his two new Officers, Sean and Nessa, sit down to split up the smaller treasure, Louie informs them that he'd like to split the treasure evenly. "I think money's meant to be shared, not to be horded," Louie states. "That's the reason I hate Joe Don so much. He wanted to be a horder." Sean brings up the Royal Pardon and everyone realizes that Joe Don will most likely be the highest bidder since he is the richest Pirate on the ship. "We're all in positions to lean the crew towards making it so Joe Don leaves," Sean explains to Louie. "Joe Don knows that…what's he do? He either leaves the ship or he pays top bid to buy that Pardon. I mean, that's a power thing for you. You own that, Louie."

Below deck, Sean shows the Royal Pardon to the crew and explains that anyone can place a bid for it if they think they'll receive a Black Spot, and the highest bidder will be safe at Pirates' Court. Joe Don quickly asks Louie how many treasures he has won so far and is surprised to learn that Louie has won all four treasures. When Joe Don says, "So, you ain't poor," Louie quickly argues back. "Your Officers and you, of your greed, are richer than anyone on this ship," he yells at Joe Don. "So don't ask me how many treasures I've won!" After seeing Louie's anger, Joe Don realizes that he may need to buy that pardon to ensure he's not cut adrift.

No More Pact Man
Later that night, Joe Don pulls his former Bosun, Jay, aside and asks him to get Louie off his back. "I know you're tight with Louie, I know that he's your number one confidant," he begins. "Here's the deal. If I get a Black Spot, me and you, our deal, what we got going on is negated. I don't got your back, you don't got my back." Jay is surprised at Joe Don's ultimatum and incredulously asks, "I'm gonna do everything I can for you, but then if it doesn't work, you're gonna penalize me for it?" Joe Don continues to be stubborn about this, leading Jay to walk away angrily, grumbling, "Forget it, dude."

Still fuming, Jay climbs below deck and immediately confesses to his shipmates, revealing the fact that he's had a pact with Joe Don since day one. He informs the crew that the pact is now over. "Right now, I would actually like to see Joe Don cut adrift," Jay says as he writes a $6,001 bid for the Pardon. "My only safe bet was to spend all my money on the Pardon. Just in case I could grab that thing and use it as some leverage."

Black Spots of Spite
In the Captain's Cabin, Louie meets with Sean and Nessa to choose Pirates who will receive the Black Spot. It's no surprise when Louie tells his Officers he's gunning for Joe Don to be cut adrift. Louie's anger also reaches towards Joe Don's closest associate, Cheryl, and this bothers Sean who doesn't understand his vendetta against her. For his final nomination, Louie chooses Azmyth because he wants to test him at Pirates' Court. "Every Captain that falls down…when I fall down, throw me up on that Black Spot, because I think you should just have to pass the test," Louie explains.

Back on deck, Captain Louie and his Officers hand out the summons to each member of the crew. When Azmyth sees a Black Spot on his letter, he's not too worried. "The Pirates, I'm 99.9 percent sure, don't want to see me go anywhere very soon," he says confidently. Cheryl isn't pleased to see her second Black Spot in a row because she doesn't feel her actions on the crew warrant this punishment. As the Officers hand a letter to Joe Don, Louie jokes, "There's three of them on yours." When Joe Don sees the Black Spot on his letter, he's not surprised. He knows it's due to Louie's rivalry with him and says, "The guy's unreasonable right now 'cause I've got all the gold and he's got gold coins in his eyes." As everyone starts to discuss the Black Spots, Sean thinks about the effect of the Royal Pardon on tonight's proceedings. "You know, it's gonna come down to who paid the most to buy that Pardon," he says. "It's safety…it's a get-out-of-jail-free card."

Later, Jupiter confides in Jay, expressing her disappointment in Louie for making decisions out of anger. She disapproves of Louie choosing to take out someone like Cheryl, just because of her association with Joe Don. Jay then takes a moment to talk with his former confidant, Joe Don, to see how he's feeling with Pirates' Court only a few hours away. As Joe Don admits that he's nervous, Jay shows him some compassion, even though his intentions aren't noble. Jay informs Joe Don that without that Pardon, he's probably the next Pirate to go.

Pirates' Court - Everyone Has Their Say

Everyone gathers on deck for another Pirates' Court where Cameron informs the Pirates that the Royal Pardon could save someone tonight. Captain Louie explains that he marked Azmyth because he believes a Captain should be tested once he's taken out of power. He marked Cheryl because of her association with Joe Don. Finally, he marked Joe Don because he has had a grudge with him since the beginning and one of the perks of being Captain is putting Joe Don on the Black Spot. When Cameron brings up the fact that it's part of the PIRATE MASTER code for the Captain to take half the treasure, Louie still faults Joe Don, saying, "No Captain is worth half the take."

Azmyth is the first marked Pirate to step forward and defend himself, reassuring the crew that his word is impeccable. "I plan on being here as long as I can to push every single one of us as far as we can to as much treasure as we can find past this night and to the end," he tells his shipmates. When Cameron mentions his loss on the Expedition, Azmyth owns up to his mistake and says, "I might have made some silly decisions in making us get our exercise. I went in, thought I had it, and I was a little bit off."

Cheryl then steps forward to defend herself saying, "It would be okay if I was being up here because I messed up a clue and put everybody in the wrong direction, but to put me up here because I associate with the Captain, that's difficult for me to understand." Nessa attacks Cheryl for alienating the rest of the crew and tries to reassure her that the decision to mark her wasn't personal. When Joe Don defends himself, he attacks Louie for not creating a positive environment on the ship and for harboring a personal grudge. "You're an angry Captain. You're pissed at me for something that I think is wrong, man," he begins. Joe Don then expresses his belief that a Captain should make more money than his crew before ending his defense by saying, "I don't deserve what you're throwing at me, dude. I love you, brother, I really do. I got nothin' with you." After hearing the defense, Cameron asks Louie if he's treating Joe Don fairly, and Louie admits it's not fair, but as a Captain, he is now a marked man. "Believe me, I don't like to be up here, but I'm here," Louie says, addressing his crew. "So whoever gets cut adrift tonight, you can blame me."

High Bid and Another Pirate Cut Adrift

Cameron announces that it's time to place the ballots. He adds that he'll reveal the highest bidder for the Royal Pardon after the ballots are collected. He also reiterates that if the Pirate with the most ballots is the highest bidder, then he or she is safe and the next Pirate with the most ballots against him or her will be cut adrift. One by one, the pirates place their ballots atop the dagger's blade. Before counting the ballots, Cameron announces that the new owner of the Royal Pardon is Joe Don, who placed the highest bid at $7,000. Louie sends Sean down to hand the pardon off to Joe Don, who is also told that he must pay the Captain immediately whether he uses the Pardon or not. Cameron examines the ballots and reveals that there are no Mutiny ballots. Turning to Joe Don, Cameron informs him that he just spent $7,000 on a Royal Pardon he didn't need because the majority of votes are not for him. As Joe Don rejoins his crew, Cameron tells him that the Pardon must change hands before the next Pirates' Court. Cameron turns to the two remaining Pirates, Cheryl and Azmyth, and informs Cheryl that the Pardon would have saved her because her name is on four ballots while Joe Don's only appears on three. Cheryl's voyage is now over and Louie cuts her adrift.
