Jennifer Lopez has received death threats from an animal rights extremist, a report claims. J Lo has long been the target of activists for her fur loving ways and now a report from New York Daily News says one wants to off Jennifer. And it sounds serious. According to the morning column from Ben Widdicombe, Lopez has reportedly beefed up security in response to ugly threats on her life.
According to a friend, an animal-rights extremist has been sending letters threatening 'to kill her in public, just like the slaughtered animals whose fur she wears." Gatecrasher reports that the source says J.Lo initially dismissed the notes, which have been arriving for a month, as lunatic junk mail.
But according to the paper, hubby Marc Anthony refuses to blow it off and is worried for the safety of his wife. "He has hired two off-duty police officers, in addition to her usual security team, to watch over Lopez whenever she makes public appearances," the pal tells the New York Daily News.
Cue the rep™: Lopez's spokeswoman shot the story down as "untrue." She said: "[Lopez] has had the same security team she has always had."
Cue animal rights group PETA: "All violence is wrong. But J.Lo needs to stop the real violence she promotes and subsidizes rather than give herself extra protection she doesn't need," a spokesman told the News.
