I'd always thought that was pronounced "vwar DEE-ray," more or less. Is that close to right?

Well, the modern French pronunciation is something like that (I don't speak French, barely read enough to read a wine list).

But that's not what lawyers say! If somebody gave it the official French pronunciation, everybody would look at him like, "Huh?"

I've heard Vwah dear, Vor dear, Vore Dyer (with equal emphasis on the two words).

It's probably easier just to say, "Jury Selection."
