Obviously, Coleus was distracted, annoyed by being relegated to chat or something else. I stumbled upon this post in searching to avoid a duplicate posting of an article that I'll link on my health & science list shortly.

These knock-out techniques on critters are great for determining homozygous phenotypes, but I don't know what insight they'll give with heterozygous genotypes.

With single nucleotide polymorphisms, epigenetics and copy number variation (of the same or similar genes e.g the genes coding for salivary and pancreatic amylase), this stuff is tied to stem cell biology.

"Begin all of your scientific pronouncements with 'At our present level of ignorance, we think we know . . .'"

Our current politicians can't even acknowledge that much.
