To: Bloody Sam Roberts

I’ve had easier times installing Ubuntu on several computers than I normally experience with XP. But the things which really make Ubuntu are the update and Synaptic managers. That’s so far above Windows it’s not worth talking about.

I do love Synaptic too. Mepis uses it now. I found the Mepis install so much faster and easier than Ubuntu. Especially for wireless. All I had to do with Mepis was to give the Network Assistant my SSID and WPA key and wireless was up and running.
Ubuntu would only use WEP and required about an hour of farting around just to get the Broadcom drivers working with ndis-wrapper. WPA was additional work but I finally just bagged it and went to Mepis.

The only trouble I'm having with Mepis is installing new themes. There doesn't seem to be a standardized method and the Theme Manager doesn't want to recognize the different packages.
I'll just have to keep picking away at it.
