Okay, well I ate already without you. ;)
Waffles and bacon, grape juice, coffee.
Enjoy your meal. *HUGS*

Yes, he was a grand man. Always respectful, fun, so proud of his family, and served his nation.
I have no answers why so many of our good ones die so young.
To: Lady Jag
Yep, need to fry it up though, was not especially good bacon though, I like a heavy smoke. I think they dumped this side in bacon smoke and called it good.

See that golden hue Burning in the west My dreams are with that color My dreams are the sun The sun always sets But never seems to rise That sun carries my dreams Slowly out of my reach I watch it slide away Leaving me behind The color disappears My dreams are with that sun Whenever the sun sets It rises in another place A place blessed by that light My dreams are hidden in that light At my window seat I watch the sun take it all away My dreams are with the sun My dreams are the sun

It was a very inexpensive bacon, so it was not treated with a real wood smoke-just that liquid stuff they use these days.
Yes, I like a good deep smoke in the bacon. ;)
Do you like fresh side pork? It’s side pork or slab bacon without the brine and smoke.
To: Soaring Feather
Love fresh side pork!
Love it all, getting hungry again.
Damn diet.

Ah, the diet drives us all
to wits end summer, winter, spring and
fall of the damned thing time and time
again, and rue the splurge of eating thin.
Oh dear, does that make sense?
To: Soaring Feather
Well, ya! It makes sense to me.
I “splurge to eat thin”
whenever possible

The Old Mans Ground
The land lay fallow in the glen
the old man gone from his garden
the land remains the same as when
the old man cleaned it out last fall.
He raked the leaves, then dug a furrow
his old dim eyes now very narrow
he gathered the oak leaves (how he disliked them),
poisoned they were to him
placed them all, each and every one
in the trench to rot away
and replenish the earth during winters snow.
He and his wife have left the block
I dont know when, I was in shock
when I looked for him this early spring
to put the A frames in place for his
early crop of seedlings,
onions and early peas, tomatoes,
and green beans
gone now from the glen
the land rests away from him.
His wheelbarrow no longer waits
underneath the old back porch
it disappeared along with him
and I am sad, not to see him
walking with his old stick
along the flower strewn path
the old grape arbor is green again
without his steady hand to rein it in.
This old man tended his garden well
over ninety years this old man lived
and every year his garden gave
veggies to the neighborhood.
We would chat a little bit on
sunny days in the glen, its sad,
I never got to say so-long to him.
And so I sit out in the glen
and gaze on fallow land
and wonder what has become of him
this old gardener of the glen.

Diets were designed just for the sole purpose of making people crazy and making lots of money. Most of them do not work anyway.
