Crown Royal Presents The Jim Stewart 400Richmond International Raceway
Welcome all to the the Nextel Cup race at Richmond International Raceway!
Since the first race in Richmond in 1953, the track has undergone three name changes, four configuration changes and one surface change, from dirt to asphalt. Lights were also added to the facility in 1991. RIR is the only track to hold all of its major events under the lights. Richmond's unique, .75-mile layout produces tremendous side-by-side racing, yet drivers obtain high enough speeds to give it a superspeedway feel. That rare combination still allows for the beating and banging that fans love, with the drivers' skill playing a major role. The track's fall date is now the final race leading up to the 10-race Chase for the NextelCup.
Crown Royal Presents The Jim Stewart 400 at RIR is named after Jim Stewart from Houma, Louisiana, The winner of an essay contest sponsored by Crown Royal during the festivities leading up to the 2007 Daytona 500. As guest of honor, Stewart will wave the green flag to start the race, as well as participate in the check and trophy presentations to the race winner in Victory Lane. Crown Royal judged the finalists based on written and video submissions chronicling consumers' favorite "Crown-Worthy" moments, which is defined as a memorable moment or occasion deemed "worthy" of toasting with a Crown Royal cocktail in a responsible manner. Stewart's winning entry chronicled his moments growing up fishing with his father and later christening his own fishing boat with a toast to his father.

My kids read it. Mine too. Yeah. That's it.
So, when I post stoopid, it was them.

My daughter and son-in-law were offered tickets yesterday to the cup race from one of his traders. She is 6 months pregnant (first time mom) and was worried about the noise factor so phoned her midwife to get clearance to go. The midwife said go and enjoy.
Their tickets include hospitality tent, tour of the pit area, meet with kyle petty and free earphones/scanners (never been to a race so I think that's what they are called).
Richmond is busy this week with Nascar and the Queen's visit. I think my daughter was more excited about the race, though.

Thanks. I am starting to worry about rain Saturday.
It was announced this afternoon the race is SOLD OUT. 31st straight sellout. Morning paper had a story about the 10 year master plan to increase seating from 112,000 to 150,000. They will do that by extending the new balcony from turn 1 to turn 4. Think about that when you see it on TV. It will be [already is] awesome.
I would post pictures, if only I knew how!
To: I want to know
Its going to be a long day for a pregnant woman. She might get antsy, after about 200 miles and she realizes its only half over.
Speaking of antsy, the Queen looked a might antsy today on TV sitting in our old house of delegates chamber hearing about how Robert E. Lee had “such a difficult choice” to make back in 1861 at the outbreak of the American Civil War. She was probably thinking about how Lee became a college president and Jefferson Davis became an insurance man after the war, but the King of England was executed in the English Civil War!
She had this “I came all the way over here to hear this crap” look on her face.
