Crown Royal Presents The Jim Stewart 400Richmond International Raceway
Welcome all to the the Nextel Cup race at Richmond International Raceway!
Since the first race in Richmond in 1953, the track has undergone three name changes, four configuration changes and one surface change, from dirt to asphalt. Lights were also added to the facility in 1991. RIR is the only track to hold all of its major events under the lights. Richmond's unique, .75-mile layout produces tremendous side-by-side racing, yet drivers obtain high enough speeds to give it a superspeedway feel. That rare combination still allows for the beating and banging that fans love, with the drivers' skill playing a major role. The track's fall date is now the final race leading up to the 10-race Chase for the NextelCup.
Crown Royal Presents The Jim Stewart 400 at RIR is named after Jim Stewart from Houma, Louisiana, The winner of an essay contest sponsored by Crown Royal during the festivities leading up to the 2007 Daytona 500. As guest of honor, Stewart will wave the green flag to start the race, as well as participate in the check and trophy presentations to the race winner in Victory Lane. Crown Royal judged the finalists based on written and video submissions chronicling consumers' favorite "Crown-Worthy" moments, which is defined as a memorable moment or occasion deemed "worthy" of toasting with a Crown Royal cocktail in a responsible manner. Stewart's winning entry chronicled his moments growing up fishing with his father and later christening his own fishing boat with a toast to his father.

The kid plugged the portable compressor It's interesting to see what they will come up with next, is it not?
My 17 yr old, thought to help with the laundry. However two loads of wash (one of towels) plus a pair of size 14 sneakers did tax the dryer severely.

Today was a first for me! After watching the first two hours of the race at work I came home and my neighbor invited me over and I went. I missed the end of the race and it didn’t matter.
I really am not liking the COT, it drives like a truck, it looks like a truck.......it IS a truck. lol
Is it only me or are the racing becoming more boring every week?
Thanks for my prize for the caution pool.
Thanks to NYT for putting the thread together this week and for ya’ll that were here today to keep it going. I’m up for Darlington, another COT race........I can hardly wait. :) Our only hope is that it’s a Saturday night race and it better not rain!! We’ve got rain all week here off and on and it usually goes in that direction. Phooey!

Yes...get rid of the COT!

Richmond always seems to be kinda dry during the middle. The start is always fun, the end is typical, but they do seem to have quite a bit of green in the middle. It’s unlike Michigan, where it can be a firestorm all race long, or green flag all the way through. I’m a superspeedway fan, so these men-in-black tracks have always seemed kinda, um, dull to me. OTOH, there’s Bristol...

The race was so exciting I went out to buy plants for the flower boxes on the porch. I caught the last 10 laps.

Please elaborate. I love my Hershey products! Chocolate is important as my favorite food group.
