I want a Jack Russell, mostly because they are cute, little, hyper dogs. I used to watch Wishbone on PBS with my kids and thought Wishbone was adorable.

Sad that George had to be put down because of these monsters but what a brave little dog to protect those kids.

Mine are definitely fearless and the fact that there are a lot of other dogs around here necessitates a good fence.

They are definitely wired, no question. However 'hyper' can get old fast as many former owners find out when they let the 'cute' aspect cloud their judgment. Jack Russell terriers are a lot of dog in a small package. Be prepared.

When I read the headline I knew it was a JR...they have no fear of anything and assume they are as tough or tougher than any dog bigger or badder.... I know God has a spot in heaven for this one....

Really think twice about a JR....they can be wonderful companions but they bored easy and need jobs to do or else they will get into trouble....You need to have a real strong alpha personality or they will rule or ruin your world....if you like terriers look at the border terrier....they are a little calmer and easier to handle....my friend breeds them and calls them pure bred mutts...

Jack Russells are very special dogs, astonishingly intelligent, but definitely not for everyone. If there is such a thing as canine OCD, they have it. They are intense little things and require an intense amount of attention.

If you’re looking for an intelligent, spirited small dog without quite as much energy, I would recommend the Boston Terrier. They are short haired and don’t present the shedding problem JRs do, are extremely affectionate, and while they are pretty energetic, they are much easier to take than JRs. Except for the snoring.

Do your research first and make sure you aren’t biting off more than you can chew! TV dogs are not the same as dogs in real life, and getting one from a... less-than-conscientious breeder can be disastrous.
