Don’t know if true, but heard about a fellow who was run over by a piece of equip when he didn’t hear the backup alarm because he was wearing earplugs and wasn’t looking out for himself.

Keep thos lanyards close and secured. Good point eastforker, better safe than sorry.
I use a ratcheting lanyard with a safety harness when climbing out of the Hi-lift when accessing the tail of aircraft.
Through the ridicule it can be a lifesaver.
