You know, I don’t want Linux pre-loaded...I just want the option to buy a computer sans-OS, and load whatever the hell I want to on it, without paying the Microsoft tax. Linux users don’t need pre-loaded machines, as they tinker with their computers so much.
It’s possible that it could only last 6 months. Linux is still relatively unknown. Though now is a good time because of Vista’s luke-warm reception.

That needs to change, otherwise you’ll never got photoshop-linux, tax programs-linux, or pick-your-favorite-game-linux.
Dell is only offering this up on a handful of machines, so I don’t think it’s going to be a 6 month thing. It may not last forever, but if the demand is there it’s there.
Knowing I could get a Dell laptop with linux certified hardware in it I’d definately make that one of my top choices if I had to go the route.
The only thing we can do is wait and see.
