A classmate of mine has had a short film accepted for the Cannes Film Festival, and is raffling off a Wii to finance his accomodations. His name is Dave Footman, and here is his message:

************************************************************

Hello my friends,

I wanted to give you the official "Foots Update" news.

Since I hit the Big 5-0 in January I have been a traveling man (insert Ricky Nelson song here). I was asked to go to Australia and work with a good friend, producer/writer/director Natalie Hechtman, on her short film, Courting Hope. I'm happy and proud to report that the film looks great and has been selected to the Short Film Corner at Cannes. We will be screened for the rest of the world to see this May. As producers on the film we are now preparing to go the the festival in a few weeks.

LOL, since we're made out of money (NOT) we're conducting a couple of raffles to raise funds. So here's the tacky sales pitch. The grand prize in both raffles is a shiny new Nintendo Wii game console with some carefully selected games. If you have not had the chance to experience this platform you really should. Playing a video game that requires you to get up and move to compete is the best thing since sliced bread. Look out Tiger Woods!

At $10 per raffle ticket we are hoping to raise enough to cover some of the outrageous housing fees being charged (about $9000.00 USD for 14 nights) in Cannes. The first raffle will be drawn during my karaoke show on Sunday, May 6th at The Venice Whaler, 10 Washington Boulevard, Venice, CA 90291. The second will be drawn during my show Wednesday, May 9th at Joxer Daly's Irish Pub, 11168 Washington Boulevard, Culver City, CA 90230.

The tickets will go on sale at both locations this Saturday, April 28th or you can purchase your chances via Pay Pal. You don't have to be present to win, but we would love to be able to hand your prize to you and say thanks that night.

For Pay Pal tickets, simply follow this link www.paypal.com and go to the "Send Money" tab on the home page. On the upper right corner of the page and fill out the "from (that's you)" and "to (foots@fasttrackpm.com)" sections. On the next page enter your credit card info and let me know how many tickets you wish to buy. There is a $.32 service charge for the total transaction.

I don't know if you are a video game player, or if you know someone that is, but come on down and sing, laugh, have a cocktail and help send an LDCP to France! Say Qui, Wii!

Thanks for helping!

From Dave:

Courting Hope is a short film (13 minutes) that would have a “G” rating if graded by the powers that be.

It’s the story of a widow named Hope that on the eve of her 80th birthday accepts an invitation to dinner from an old suitor.

Beautifully shot in Australia and scored in the US , the film has been very well received by the few industry professionals we have shown it to. the selection to the Short Film Corner is quite an honor.
