Ben Watson won't have to worry about those safeties anymore.

Randy will be an excellent mentor for Meriweather.

I think he’ll be spending a wee bit more time with Harrison and Bruschi.

Belichick already has Moss on double-secret probation.
Normally I would take a cynical view on a trade like this but the NE Patriots have established a history of backing up their claims that they don't tolerate players who don't strictly adhere to their code of conduct. As well, the Pats also have a history of taking on players who were troubled elsewhere (i.e. Corey Dillon) and making successes of them.
In fact the Boston sports market in general are following the Patriots lead. The Celtics just dumped a player with off-field troubles and the Red Sox have put their dysfunctional days behind them as well. Boston sports fans have come to expect that selfish, egotistical athletes will be run out of town.

Yup. You know Belichick has made things crystal clear to Moss. If he doesn’t go along with the program...good bye.

I think its good “risk” to take...Rodney or Tedy will straighten him out if he starts getting out of line. I think he wants a Championship and will be focused and determined- he will be in the exact opposite situation as he was with the Raiders, I think its a good move, no worries.

Exactly. They can cut him any time with little cost (a fourth round draft pick). It’s not like Randy can poison the team. Too many veterans with too many rings.... This is a no brainer.

Miami used the 9th pick overall to take Ginn. We gave up a 4th rounder for Randy Moss.

And I thought we got a good deal for Dillon in 2004.
To: mainepatsfan
I don’t know. I really detest this guy but it may work out.
Moss finally gets to play for a major contender with an excellent offense/quarterback.
Becoming a member of a team like this just might mature the guy.
Get him on the cheap also.
Be optimistic.

And the joke this morning on Boston sports talk was that the Patriots didn’t give them much to talk about. Problem solved.
To: gate2wire
The price is right. If he doesn’t work out they’re out a 4th round pick.
To: mainepatsfan
I really, really think this is a bad, bad, bad, bad idea.

Yep,no brainer. Last night I thought they traded their 3rd round pick for him....until the details came out.
With this move I feel a WHOLE LOT better! Woo-hoo!!! Now lets go get some D help today.
To: USMCWife6869
Let me guess why...he’s a cancer that’s going to destroy the team?
To: mainepatsfan
As a Vikings fan, I can tell you that, when he wants to be, Moss is the best receiver in the NFL. Unfortunately, his work ethic sucks and his chronic bitching poisons a locker room.
If nothing else, you got a great decoy.

Today is the day to build some depth and if we get lucky we’ll find some surprises.
