LOS ANGELES An actress shot to death at Phil Spector's hilltop castle was the last of several women victimized by the legendary music producer in a decades-long series of alcohol-fueled confrontations, a prosecutor told jurors Wednesday as they began hearing the murder case. Prosecutor Alan Jackson's opening statement made it clear the case against Spector will rely heavily on the testimony of other women dating to the 1970s. Jackson outlined what he called a pattern of behavior in which Spector would become exceedingly drunk, take a woman to one of his residences, refuse to let her leave and then threaten her with a gun when she refused to stay. He said Spector is someone "who, when he's confronted with the right circumstances, when he's confronted with the right situations, turns sinister and deadly." "The evidence is going to paint a picture of a man who on February 3, 2003, put a loaded pistol in Lana Clarkson's mouth _ inside her mouth _ and shot her to death," Jackson told the nine-man, three-woman jury. The prosecutor showed a photograph of Clarkson slumped in a chair, her face covered with blood. Spector appeared tense during the televised proceeding as the prosecution laid out the murder case against him.

The woman could act.
Just not re-act.
I have a good feeling about this cretin being found guilty.
What is appalling are the number of women who should have reported him much earlier, and LE who should have followed up on his threatening behavior while in possession of a gun. Wonder what kind of California, NY and DC background checks he passed for those guns.
I really have to do some research on this case. The prosecution’s case on CourtTV sucked me in.

Latest Developments
April 19, 2007: The twelve jurors have been empaneled in the Spector case, with the remaining six alternates expected to be selected on Monday, April 23. AP reports that the jury includes “several county employees, including two engineers, as well as a man who is a network TV producer and has covered high-profile criminal cases.” Opening statements should begin on Wednesday, April 25.
April 16, 2007: The Los Angeles Times reports some disturbing news for those who want a fair jury empaneled: “Honestly, I think he did it,” the paper quotes one of the potential jurors as saying. “I think I’m a fair person but it would be very difficult to forget what I read.” More cryptically, one of the other potential jurors, when questioned, stated “In my opinion, Phillip Spector is at fault for her (Clarkson’s) death.”
April 11, 2007: It’s official: Spector’s ex-girlfriend Devra Robitaille will be allowed to tsetify that the producer once threatened her with a gun. “If you try to leave, I’ll blow your brains out,” London’s Daily Mirror quoted her in court documents. Four other women have also been cleared to testify that Spector has threatened them with guns in the past, part of a plan, according to the prosecution, to establish “a recurring, common plan used to intimidate women into staying with him.” For their part, the defense is expected to defame Clarkson’s character with stories of drug abuse and promiscuous behavior, and also to argue that powder burns on her body are consistent with suicide, not murder.
April 4, 2007: A remark overheard at one of Joan Rivers’ parties in 2003 may come back to haunt Phil Spector: according to documents filed by Deputy District Attorney Alan Jackson, ex-LAPD officer Vincent Tannazzo claims Spector told him that women “all deserve to die. They all deserve a bullet in their f-—ing head. That’s why I got permits for all over. Wherever I go, I always keep a gun because they’re all no f-—ng good.”
March 21, 2007: The first round in the Phil Spector trial — jury selection — has been completed. Over 225 people were screened to find the final 12, completing an 18-page survey designed to find out if the prospective jurors came to the court with any preconceived bias about Spector, celebrities, or the murder itself. Spector, sporting a bizarre blonde moptop, and his wife Rachelle, whom he married in September, attended the selection flanked by three huge bodyguards.
There is a spy trial going on in California right now of a naturalized citizen accused of providing the Chinese military with information about how our Navy submarine engines are made to run silently to avoid detection. China continues to steal sensitive information on U.S. nuclear bombs and ship and missile designs. But the media is entirely focused on this perv, in what is a pretty cut and dried case of murder. Talk about fiddling...

You are right 3Ang.
I may not watch it avidly, because I can barely stand to listen to Bruce Cutler - perv’s ‘over the top, bad actor’ defense atty!
However, I am confident this trial is going to have a satisfying outcome (good trumping evil) - which is why I posted it.
Everything else in ‘serious news’ only succeeds in causing anger and disgust, i.e. Democrats’ cowardice, stupidity, self-aggrandizement, corruption and figuratively, if not literally, assassinating President Bush.
Please ping me to the key thread on Spector. I too am hooked.
“””What I want to know is if Phil Spector and Marcia Clark are related”””
By George I think you have motive!
Cutler might need this as a defense strategy....insanity!
Funny!
Did you notice that Phil has more make-up?
Started this thread - but not watching CourtTV - I only have the one TV - don’t want to destroy it;)
sod!
He also looks a heck of a lot brighter than PJ.
Watching it on CTV.
Boy that gal on CTV looks like she is going to go into labor anytime now.
Her tummy is HUGE.
Sounds like Phil had alot of gals who hung out with him for the free drinks and meals but were adament that they were not romanitcally interested.
To much booze and alot of female companion rejection and the ole gun would come out and wave around.
This time it went off.
He is going away for the rest of his life.
CTV keeps bringing up what a talented guy he is.....yeah like 30yrs ago!
He is a rich lonely old man who did not persue hobbies to keep himself out of trouble.
A has been if you will.
I didn’t know he wrote all those songs though.
Getting bored with the trial.
I like the prosecutors’ style.
Maybe his guns were as old as his fame was......decades ago.
Watching now on a gal who he pulled a gun on in the past.
He is sitting with his hands clasped in in front of him and man he has the shakes BAD.
Either brain damage from years of heavy drinking or needing a drink real bad right now or both.
The pic of him and the gal on the stand now Ms. Melvin shows the both of them at least taken 20yrs ago.
She was very young then and is now elderly/aged looking.
Not lucky to age well like some.
“””Getting bored with the trial.

ditto & ditto
He got married last September - to influence the jury - I’m sure.
You can have this thread - I don’t want it. BOOOOOOOOring
LOL
And not to mention the tax funded companies contracted to scap our moth ball fleets and they turn around and sell that good iron/steel to China.
Infuriating.
Had her purse on her shoulder and 5ft from the exit door.
What was this about her having her skirt rolled up in her purse and in her slip?
Also Phil S used diapers to clean up blood. Like Depends?
Was he an incontinent old boozer?
And why the wigs? Is he bald?
Here is a ping for today.
I just found this thread too.
Cut and Dry.
IMO
I wish we could see the DC Madame trial and hear more names on her list.
The guy who came up with the saying “shock and awe’ is on her list.
Boy this is real tabloid news.
Wonder who is going to burn for exposing her escort service ala carte.
It is a horrible career choice for the women who chose to work in the sex trade but the govt is too hipocritical.
Remember when they foreclosed on the Cat house in Nevada and then ran it as a govt. business they were so bad they ran it down out of business. That is pretty bad when the gov can’t even run a cat house for profit.
