Thanks for the correction. Still, Hollywood has a neverending stream of young actresses from which to chose. Only an extraordinary beauty — which Laura Dern is not — finds work in her 40’s.

“Blaming the Kiss” strikes me as a conclusion arrived at while on her analyst’s couch.

1) She’s not that hot.

2) A no-talent living off the last name of her parent.

3) Because of 2), she feels the usual way to job roles in her profession of choice, the casting couch, was beneath her.

A trip to the Internet Movie Database reveals she has been working steadily since her appearance on Ellen’s sitcom in 1997. She had roles in 1998, two in 1999, 2000, six in 2001, three in 2002, one animation voice role in 2003, 2004, two in 2005, two last year and two so far this year. Of course some projects may have had their release dates delayed and masked a hiatus of unemployment but it hardly seems she’s been out of work.

Meanwhile, Ellen Degenerate gets her own TV show and hosts the Oscars. Sorry, Miss Dern, in today’s slimy moral climate, you’d be better off blaming your lousy agent for not getting you more work.

She’d probably get more work if she would claim she’s a lesbian.

I’ve always liked Ellen, she’s a brilliant and funny person. She realized she overreached with being a lesbian and she felt the backlash, and decided not to wear it on her sleeve. She learned from her mistake and just concentrated on being funny again.

I think she can be funny too. But I want to be in the room if my kids are watching her so I can point out what is just silliness and what is subtle propaganda.

She was downright hot in Ramblin’ Rose.

It had nothing at all to do with her career arc.

She’s as nutty as her old man.

“Coming out as a militant, in-four-face homo killed Ellen’s otherwise hilarious sitcom.”

Disagree. She was as hard to envision straight as the guy, Richard, from “Caroline in the City”.

I don’t recall Ellen being “militant”.

She turned her show into a homo soap opera and it promptly tanked. People don’t want to sympathize with homos; they want to laugh at them.

I suppose she's having trouble accepting that she's not going to be a star, but just a working actress in supporting roles.

She had her shot and turned out not to be "A-list" material. She wouldn't even have gotten that shot if she'd had different parents.

She wasn't half bad in October Sky. She'll either turn to television, or do kook roles, like her old man: there's money in them.

Maybe she should get back together with Jeff Goldblum and they can dry each other's tears.

I like Ellen’s show. A big problem for me was recently seeing her on a list of celebrities that support Planned Parenthood. I guess it shouldn’t have surprised me, but it did. I usually could put her lifestyle choice aside and enjoy her show and comedy, but when I found out that she is pro-abortion, I just have had a tougher time. I still watch it sometimes, though.
