It’s a quote of Bill Clinton’s, possibly the version the DNC is running now.

I know that.

What does it have to do with this thread?

So if we use Linux we’re a lib?

Ubuntu was mentioned in the title of the thread, guess you missed it. Consider it a reminder for those of us who care about politics, verses “what can we download for free today”.

So, if I discuss the slice of apple pie i ate for lunch, you’re going to think of Steve Jobs and Apple, Inc.?

You’re really absurd, Iggle...

At home: Dell Precision M90

Hardware:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 Processor
  • 4GB DDR2 667Mhz DRAM
  • 17" WXGA+ Widescreen LCD
  • 160GB 7200rpm SATA hard drive
  • 8X DVD +/- RW optical drive
  • NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500 512MB

Software:

  • Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn
  • VMWare Workstation 6 Beta
  • OpenOffice.org 2.2
  • Automatix2
  • Firefox 2.0.0.3
  • Evolution Groupware 2.10

    They can call it what they want, its a laptop. As to the price, notice the XPS line is under desktops:

    These go upwards of 4k. The line between desktop and workstation is nothing but a branding cliche in todays world. The day of the spark workstation vs the 486 windows95 box is done.

    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workstation

    Workstation Class PCs

    A significant segment of the desktop market are computers expected to perform as workstations, but using PC operating systems and components. PC component manufacturers will often segment their product line, and market premium components which are functionally similar to the cheaper "consumer" models but feature a higher level of robustness and/or performance. Notable examples of this are the Xeon and Opteron CPUs, and the Quadro line of video processors.

    A workstation class PC may have some of the following features:

    * support for ECC memory
    * a larger number of memory sockets which use registered (buffered) modules
    * multiple processors
    * multiple displays
    * run a "business" or "professional" operating system version

Better yet, if Barak Obama has an apple for lunch and says “I Love Apples’ does that mean Apple computers are for leftist?

Not at all, even I use Linux on occassion. But there are a lot of leftist whackos deeply involved with Linux, starting with "the father of free software" and green party advocate Richard Stallman. The DNC runs on Linux, every communist government on earth is standardizing on it, but most of the linux pushers will do everything they can possibly think of before ever admitting any possible connection. Just be truthful, don't run around creating 20 threads a week full of bull then try to deny the obvious.

There are a lot of leftist whackos deeply involved in Windows (Gates, Ballmer) and Apple (Jobs) as well, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that Sun has a few on their staff as well.

The DNC runs on Linux

So does Free Republic.

If Dell ever does actually start shipping Linux on home computers again (we’ve only had about two or three dozen threads over the last couple of years claiming it is any day now, despite nothing but No from mike himself) it will be to match up against Apple. Dell himself has said several times he’d love to provide OSX installed, but since Jobs won’t agree this could be what happens instead.

Kev,

only go down this road with him if you enjoy repeating yourself often. He does not want to hear it. There are seasons when I find running him around in circles fun, this is not one of them. His Xenophobia hits a soft spot with me as I am the husband of an immigrant.

Gates and Jobs are nowhere as leftist as Stallman, check Stallman.org. FR simply uses Linux, Howard Dean pushes what he calls “open source politics”.

Could be just to compete with Apple. It could also be the thousands upon thousands of submissions to dells ideastorm website stating that many customers wanted, for lack of a better term, an OEM linux desktop (help me out if you have something better). Dell has acknowledged recently they are seriously looking at putting Linux out there which is hardly “nothing but No”.

In any event Dell is not going to get a chance to sell OSX anytime soon and I very much doubt anyone who was going to buy an apple will settle for Linux on Dell. If they wanted Linux on Dell they can do that now (just not with the support Apple provides).

Yeah, I need to remind myself to not feed the troll. Apparently, some leftists are better than other leftists because they're richer, or something odd like that.
