Vanity-Need hotel info for DC area

Posted on 04/17/2007 6:27:05 PM PDT by BreitbartSentMe

Hoping someone can help me with hotel suggestions. I may be attending a training trainig in early May in Arlington, very close to the Crystal City Metro Stop (Blue/Yellow Line), but I hear that area is expensive. Looking for a cheap, safe hotel further out that I can use the Metro for.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to see if I can squeeze a FReep to Walter Reed, but I don't know the area at all.

So, I’m not kidding when I say tha I don’t know the area at all. Is Greenbelt a city, or an area of Arlington? How would I search that area on a site like Travelocity?

there are a number of motels along columbia pike in arlington but there isn’t an easy way to get into crystal city unless you want to take cab. there is also a comfort inn on glebe road in arlington, glebe and 24th road south i think.

IIRC, there’s a Marriott near the National Zoo that’s pretty close to a metro connection. I think there’s also a metro connection in VA. My sister told me of a nice hotel near there that she found. I’ll ask her about it.

What do you consider *reasonable* in cost?

Greenbelt is a town in Maryland that is the terminus of Metro's Green line. You get from there to Crystal City by Metro. You will have to change from the Green to the Orange Line at L'Enfant Plaza.

Look out in the Rockville/Bethesda area in Maryland too. There are lots of hotels and motels out that way, and they tend to be less pricey that the ones in downtown DC or in Crystal City. There is plenty of Metro service in that area, so you won't have any trouble getting around. See if you can download a Metro Map at www.wmata.com.

I’m trying to find at least less than $100 per night mid-week, it might make the difference between my boss approving the trip or not.
