First there was Salt Lake City, and now Virgian Tech. Trey Perkins, a 19 year old student who is now on fox News spewed his story about being in the same room as the gunman while he reloaded his weapons at least once. Did he get up and charge the gunman with reckless abandon to save his fellow students? NO
When the SLC shooting took place, the local news broadcast a cell video of the shooter discharging his weapons. While the owner of the cell phone stood there and filmed the shooter, who coincidently had his back to the camera, he did nothing. Cowards, bystanders, and wimps. I am ashamed and disgusted. Maybe it is my military training or having being in a war zone that makes me know I would take action or die trying.
I would not be jumping out of windows or filming a murderer in action, and I hope to God that whoever reads this would not either. Where are all the men?
Some people may live their entire life without the situation, circumstance, or turn of events to show what they’re made of. With the All Volunteer force, there are “A Few Good Men” who shine above the rest. Those that live off the sweat and blood of the brave, may be heros in their own minds, but its action that speaks true, not self-rightiousness. If you want respect, DO SOMETHING! If your feeling judged, I would guess, your not doing enough.
Msgt USMC, I know some good Marines that I have all but respect for, but your attitude towards civilians is repugnant and arrogant. It’s part of that very elitist attitude that drives liberal bias against those who serve. If you think that staring down the barrel of a loaded gun is the only way in which a man’s mettle is tested, then I can only encourage you to come to the realization that adversity takes many forms, so that you may stand shoulder to shoulder with brothers who have different strengths than you.
