WORD FOR THE DAY, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2007, INTEGRITY

My exhusband was locked into the IRS office about 30 years ago. He had an appointment at 3:00 p.m., didn't get in until 4:00 p.m. He was told to come back the next day. He worked in LA, but lived in Oxnard which is about 40 miles and two hours away at that time of day. He told his IRS person he wasn't leaving until his audit was done. They locked him in the office.

He called the police from the IRS office, but they wouldn't do a thing. So he kicked the door down (LAPD) and was charged for it. It was before my time. But I got audited the year I moved in with him. Same address. My audit was perfect. They just wanted him for a second go around.

I was audited two more times. I flunked once because I had misadded my mileage. Owed about $20, by then, of course, it was up to $100. Never been audited again. Cross my fingers.

Oh, last year IRS said Cyber and I owed an additional $1200. Called our CPA. IRS wrote an apology letter. It was THEIR mistake. Really.
