To: Amos the Prophet

I never - ever - claimed I was superior. I was just explaining to you that what you read as feeling superior is probably just zeal in teaching what God says in the Bible.

They are not claiming superiority of them - they are claiming that the message they are teaching is the truth and you interpret that as they feel superior.

So, what are they to do? Refuse to ever teach what God tells us to do? Refuse to show people what is needed for salvation? Refuse to claim what our beliefs are?

You are not realistic and you seek to mock and tear down people that are merely trying to live their lives as Christians.

I firmly believe that living a life as a Christian is far, far superior to any other life. However, that is not saying I am superior. I am only saved because Jesus died for me and I believed, was baptised and seek to follow his teachings.

You may have run across some of those that come across as superior, but that does not mean all in the CofC are that way. And, you full well know that.

Do you feel the same about all the other churches out there? Are you basing that on the statements that “we are the only ones going to heaven” that were misinterpreted in years past?

All I am saying is that you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about Church of Christ members. And I am saying Church of Christ members are people same as any other people, some with talents for preaching and teaching, many without good skills.

But, that does not change the fact that they are going to the Bible to learn what is required for salvation, what God wants in His church. Any that seek God and his will through God’s word are not erring.

So, you have no reason to chastise Church of Christ members for anything. Wish more people would bother to read the Bible to find out what Jesus said about salvation and God’s teachings. Superior? No, but God’s words are sure superior and are the source for the truth.

Your only response to my (very legitimate) concern is to make false assumptions about me.
Have you read any C of C theological literature, especially about water baptism and works salvation? I thought not.
There are many C of C bodies who fervently believe that they are the only route to heaven.
Rigid top down communications within local churches allows far too many leaders to assume a mantle of perfection. Mistrust of Christians outside the C of C club is a perrenial problem.
These are serious problems being addressed by a few C of C members and leadership. Sticking your head in the sand will not rid us of the sickness that infects far too many C of C churches.
