Always Marry An April Girl

Praise the spells and bless the charms,
I found April in my arms.
April golden, April cloudy,
Gracious, cruel, tender, rowdy;
April soft in flowered languor,
April cold with sudden anger,
Ever changing, ever true —
I love April, I love you.

Ogden Nash

Hi everyone!

Well, I'm off to Thailand tomorrow. My visa application is experiencing some bumpiness, but nothing that shouldn't even out.

This job I'm working in is one of the most positive I have ever experienced here in Taiwan, and that's including back in the late 80s/early 90s when I first came here and they were much more traditional.

The people down here are quite confident and proud, so none of the uptight insecurities I wrote about previously exist down here. None at all!

And the food is great, southern cookin', ample portions, and prepared with love. You know good people just love good food.

I myself have chilled more and more with my study of various philosophies, so it's so much easier for us to dial into one another's frequency than it has ever been before. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, my Chinese is beginning to flow towards true fluency. Amazing when there's no culture shock one's faculties function so much more effortlessly.

Ironically, after a short flight to Thailand, I can just walk into the nearest Internet cafe and log on again! Amazing, the Internet Age, isn't it? If I didn't mention I'd switched countries you'd never know it!

Immediately after we bought the non-refundable ticket to Thailand it turned out that I could have only gone for a day or so, but we scheduled 5 to do all the visa stuff, which I now won't need to do. To tell you the truth I'd rather just stay here in Southern Taiwan, where the living is easy. But I'll wander around and look for interesting tidbits to share with the Lair while I'm in Bangkok.

I should be sitting in an Internet cafe in Bangkok about 24 hours from now.
