I Have Walked
I have walked
among wind carved stones
above the tree lines
where peace enfolds you
and chills you
with the breath of far places
and different times
A place where the immensity
of space and time
leave you humbled
aware and awed
of your place in life
as ant to elephant
so you to existence
I have walked beside deep rivers
under the shade of giants
in their leafy crowns
and smelled the scent of life
awakened anew in time
and gifted to me
and I thank the moment mine
Verdant growth about me
abundance as if a glory
a softness in the silence that is peace
in coolness of ancient trees set by a Master
in the garden of what is and will be
where pride and boldness fall away
and leave only the love of life
I have walked in deserts stark
seemingly empty of any life
as if truly places of utter loss
examples of what might have been
or what we might make of all
if we forget the duty we owe
Shattered stones and whispering sand
landscaping empty spaces and times
a place of reflection
a place of contemplation
undistracted internal discourse
that leaves one shaken
at discoveries within brought without
I have walked in the hidden places
deep and dark
yet but a span away from the light
oft amazing to my sight
halls of silent reverence
wherein I drank from springs sweet
and returned to the light and life
I have walked a path
oft crooked and wandering
yet it leads me on
as it ever has and will
until it ends at the place and time appointed
and I surrender all I have ever been
before the judgment of my Father
This poem is a master piece, so rich in vivid imagery, so moving the spirit to walk with one who has walked these paths.
Excellent.
Great poem.
