All the airports I’ve been to are so boring. Did you say that is SF?

I read the other night that you’re returning to the East. Why so soon, may I ask?

Lady, the poem, exquisite. Thank You. Beautiful graphic also.

Isn’t it great to come into the Lair to find it laden in music, colorful flowers, gorgeous Oriental Art, great poetry, warmth, joy, and peace, radiating from each post?
Today is a good day, all is well.

The Irish never forget that they are an oppressed people, the world made sure of that. Today the English seem to be pale copies of what they once were, and the Irish build a country they hold high in honest pride. To them the final battle will be won, as england becomes so divided it falls in upon itself.

Oppression in Succession

Black the wind that screamed off the Tor,
and the rain came in sheets like bitter tears
washing the land clean of the battle’s blood.
For only such a wild and savage flood
could remove this stigma of Celtic fears
and so the Irish hate the English evermore.

Broken vows and turncoat politics made,
every chance at peace another waste of time,
and left the spirit hardened to welcome change.
Wide the emotions and spirit did range,
but each act but a traitor’s false mime,
the price another bloody English raid.

Heroes and villains fell by each other’s hand,
as did their families and histories in the dirt,
such is the price of power over another.
Those who might have been true brothers,
in the end saw their lives drain in spurts
at the hand of some more savage band.

Subdued, but not conquered in their own land,
they prosper and succeed to win in the end,
and the English shall pass into the mists of time.
Homogenized and diluted by other lines,
the last battle to be without a shot to send
and Erin will be free of the lion’s heavy hand.

“So true, that’s why I like the a/c in summer, beside the cooling it does help take out some of the humidity.

In winter months the air in my place is dry, dry due to the steam heat. Sometimes that works against me.”

If you have hardwood floors in the house, these soak up an amazing amount of water in the winter, and makes the need for a humidifier quite necessary if you want to prevent wood damage (splitting and the like.) And if you have a piano you really need that winter time humidity, the soundboard, (the heart of a piano)is subjected to 10-30 TONS of force from the tension of the many strings, and dry wood can split and crack, as it loses strength and ruin forever the piano’s tone. A dehumidifier in spring and summer can remove much of the humidity in the air, making you far more comfortable, and using less power then an A/C unit. By the way, the water removed from the air by the dehumidifier is perfect for plants, using in your iron, and as pure water for pets who may be chlorine sensitive to tap water!

I know in winter months I have to watered my house plants nearly daily, the dry air sucks out all the water.

Gorgeous day today, a little cool but wonderful sun all day.

I worked out in the yard for a bit. Cleaned up some of the old dead leaves.

Hi Lady, The little Chinese figurines are from the Taipei airport in Taiwan, all the silver I've been posting is from the SF airport (as I transfered to my Taiwan flight) and the flowers are from all around my top secret home town.

Yes, I'm back in the East right now. I've been teaching English in Asia, but my degree is in information systems, and I've written web applications for some of the larger companies in the world.

I had considered going back to software, and it was interesting to see the changes that have occurred over the last 3 years that I've been out of it. But to get back in fully I must complete 5 certifications to show I'm top notch (I already hold two of them, but they're old now so I must redo them and add three more for the full designation)

Anyway, I've been playing fast and loose with the finances, buzzing through Thailand on my way back for one month, then a month in India, then zooming back to our (relatively) expensive country, and so I didn't budget enough finances to pay all my expenses while I regained the modern certifications.

I was going to do some simple labor while I finished the certs., but with my rich resume and, oh I don't know, strong bearing, I guess, I found people at that level wouldn't have any part of my being around. What's more, the tech study was interesting, but I could sort of feel that once I digested the last 3 year's changes, well then it would be back to the boring life of doing the same thing every day that made me quit and come to Asia 4 years ago!

So there's the long answer to your question. With lowered cost of living, and much lower tax rates here, I can bank more than double my rent payment in the US each month! In five years (or even one, I guess, if I settle for just one acre somewhere) I can buy my retirement farm and just grow expensive plants in a greenhouse or write, or do whatever I want. So here I'll stay. Plus with the languages and foods around here, there's much to hold the interest of my "proactive mind", as one colleague once described me!

May Day

  The shining line of motors,
The swaying motor-bus,
The prancing dancing horses
Are passing by for us.

The sunlight on the steeple,
The toys we stop to see,
The smiling passing people
Are all for you and me.

"I love you and I love you!"--
"And oh, I love you, too!"--
"All of the flower girl's lilies
Were only grown for you!"

Fifth Avenue and April
And love and lack of care--
The world is mad with music
Too beautiful to bear.
