What was that FDA? We’re done with the recalls? We can’t wait to hear what you have to say at the Senate hearing.

Menu Foods voluntarily recalls additional pet food made with ChemNutra wheat gluten

TORONTO, April 10 /PRNewswire/ - Prompted by reports from the US Food and Drug Administration as to the presence of melamine in cans of cuts and gravy pet food produced in Menu Foods’ Canadian production facility, Menu Foods undertook an accounting of all recalled wheat gluten supplied by ChemNutra Inc. to Menu Foods in the United States. As the result of that review, Menu Foods has identified a single interplant transfer of the ChemNutra supplied wheat gluten, shipped from Menu Foods’ plant in Emporia, Kansas, to its plant in Streetsville, Ontario. This wheat gluten was subsequently used in the production of pet food in December, 2006 and January, 2007, which is being recalled by Menu Foods.

First evidence bad pet food was made in Canada besides the two US plants.

Complete freefall in progress. It is abudantly apparent the pet food industry is unable to control it's own product safety and quality in any sort of a timely manner once a problem is encountered.

After three weeks Menu Foods still cannot isolate it's poisoned pet food. More and more bad food is still being fed to pets.

Haven’t seen much on ‘tha whirld newz’ about this. Interesting that the public has to educate themselves on this one. But at least we know who Anna Nicole’s baby’s daddy is. That’s the iportant thing.

The more doctrinaire Muslims, plus, large percentages of other non / anti Western peoples, including some old school Chinese, are very anti pet. They proscribe the keeping of pets. They view them strictly as outdoor / farmstead varmint controls. Add to that, the prominent role pets play particularly in American society. Who knows. There may be more than negligance in the mix.

The Chinese company identified sold slightly under one ton to the pet food industry.
Where did the other nine tons they claim they sold go?
Or was it ten tons to the pet food industry, and ninety tons unaccounted for?

Can a whistleblower at the FDA please stand up?

Nutro Recalls All Canned Food With Wheat Gluten
April 10th, 2007

We applaud this move by Nutro to remove all wet foods that contain wheat gluten and we agree with Nutro CEO’s sentiments. Checking UPC codes, dates, etc. only causes confusion in stores as well as homes. Customer-centric companies should do us all a favor by removing entire lines of products, not just certain dates or codes.

We’ve heard too many reports of recalled food still sitting on store shelves because of all the confusing information that’s been dribbling out over the last month. Simple instructions like this help us save our pet’s lives.

“Pet owners are fed up with confusing information regarding the Menu Foods recall,” said Dave Kravis, President and CEO of Nutro Products.

Thanks... the food-reports naysayer will undoubtedly show up soon to tell everyone the cats would have died of kidney failure anyway because it’s a known fact American Cats all have kidney failure and it’s only being found now because owners are scared...

It was actually thousands of tons of “human food grade” wheat gluten imported in less than one year. 90% is unaccounted for at this time.
