Recently, I purchased seasons 1-3 of 24. I have completed viewing the first season and am halfway through the second season. I like the program. It is very fast paced and exciting. Jack Bauer in the second season seems better and more competent than in the first. At various times, I have caught a couple bloopers. This one in particular stands out - in season one, when Jack and Mason go to that field where the secret prison is located, Mason tells Jack his phone battery is dead and can he use his phone. A few scenes later, Mason either gets or makes a call on his phone. When it happened, I was so reved up looking for conspiracies and double-crosses, I thought Jack would eventually say - hey, how come the battery is now working?
A couple of observations - first one is I hope we don't have a CTU like that in real life. With everyone bed-hopping, back-stabbing, and infiltrating the Unit, I really can't see how competent it is. Also, there seems to be a high turnover rate with many CTU employees dying during a season. During season 1, I thought the majority of the female characters were freaky looking. In season 2, someone must of told the producers because the female characters became more normal looking. In season 2, the scenes where Stanton is being tortured is stupid.
The one main thing I like is the shocking surprises. Jack shooting and killing the scum witness at the beginning of season 2. Also in season 2, the person who turns out to be the real terrorist spy is a shocker.
I like how the series makes you like and hate certain characters. Palmers wife - can't stand her. Palmer - cool guy. Mason - the series has made you to not liking the guy to sympathizing with him and his end-of-life trying to do the right thing. In season one, I could not stand Bauer's wife and daughter. In fact, his daugher has to be the most stupidest character ever in a tv series. It is amusing to some extant to watch some characters make an impact and then are killed off.
All in all, a good program that keeps you entertained.
Answering some such questions can be spoilers....
heh...
You have succinctly captured Kim's one valuable asset to the program (actually two)
If it were not for Chloe, I wouldn't come out from under the bed.
With the way this season is going, we might all (fortunately) get your wish!
We love 24 too but please forgive me if we make fun of it at times. In our house we call it the line #2 syndrome. It could be called the dumbing down of America. Here is an example where line #2 isn’t needed. Line #1 “ The have a nuclear weapon.” Line #2 “Which can blow up a whole city.” When they add the line #2 syndrome to the show it is very hard not to mock.
LOL!
Yeah... what IS wrong with this season? Did they hand it over to the guys who made season two of “Lost” or something? How does a show go from its best season ever to the worst? Are the people who make the show even aware of this, and, if so, is there any signs they plan to do anything about it?
It’s my favorite TV show (in fact, just about the only thing I watch that’s broadcast), and I hate to see it... boring! ;-<
Good and enjoyable show, but one thing I hate is that they make all the great looking women either vilains (e.g., Nina Meyers) or kill them off (e.g., Michelle Dessler), so they’re not around very long.
In Season 3, Jack Bauer takes his girlfriend’s virginity — then he puts it back!
I don't know how it's gonig to play out, but in season 2, Nina tells Jadk she had to kill his wife because she was going to drop a dime on her. In fact, that was another lie from Nina because she had Terri tied up. All she had to do was put duct tape on her mouth and split. I felt she killed her in an effort to spite Jack.
Is Jack going to die this year and be replaced by Rick Schroeder?
Can anyone guess?
Another good one! 8-)
Ask the terrorists.
I’ve gotta disagree. I’ve seen nothing but recycled plot-lines. Almost the entire supporting cast has been knocked off, and I can’t relate to the new guys (does anybody here really care about Morris?). The plot no longer revolves around Jack. In every other season, there have been innocents sucked into the plot (for us to identify with), and in every other season, Jack has had personal issues to work out. Here? He’s Rambo - nothing more, nothing less.
Another problem, I’m beginning to realize, is screen time. Jack’s not in the show more than he IS in it - I think he had three scenes in the last episode. Indeed, last week Chloe was strangely absent for the first 45 minutes as well... what, was she locked in the C.T.U. bathroom?
I don’t think they’re at all out of plots - the specific bunch doing this season seem to be, but that doesn’t mean the show is.
Hey, hands up... how many people would have preferred an entire season of Jack trying to get out of China?
This is probably better suited to the chat section than news. Just some friendly advice. :-)
This season to pick up at the minute the last one ended.
Still, a fun thing to do during 24 is to bet on how long it takes for Bauer to utter this line: "We're running out of TIME". Finishing in 2nd place is: "...Or I WILL kill you".
