I think it’s beyond interesting — it seems obvious. Both HKS and KE need to lawyer up.
Probably HKS can access any of ANS’s money in checking and savings as her probable survivor beneficiary on those accounts. As such he wouldn’t need to auction off anything or wait for any probate or custody ruling.
However KE also likely had some ANS memorabilia and according to ebay records the ANS diaries and the current ANS painting were/are both sold by LA based, individual accounts with no previous seller histories.
If either KE or HKS is auctioning and profiting from their ANS items it certainly should be something the IRS looks into as reportable income. Substantial reportable income. Otherwise it will pass via BS’s CPA skills to them in some undetectable manner.
