I had heard that about grammar mistakes. Kids taught this way can expect to flip burgers for a living because corporations will not be hiring them.
USA Today did a series on kids who are taught under the self esteem method — 2+2 can equal anything you want, etc.
The managers interviewed from Fortune 500 companies were asked about how these college graduates (the first in the country taught under these new methods) were doing on the job.
The results were hysterical. Managers reported that when they pointed out to the new employees that their math was wrong in some report, the typical response was “That’s your opinion”.!!!!!!!!
When said managers gently corrected employees, there was typically crying involved and Human Resources had to come in to arrange counseling. And this, my friends, is the future of America.
And this is why I think America’s greatest days are behind her. Yes, things are chugging along economically rather well in the country right now, but that’s due to change. The Democrat’s budget contains the biggest tax increase in our nation’s history.
And if Hillary gets in office, national healthcare will be a given and then the country won’t be able to afford to have a first class military. Just like the EU, we’ll be spending our money on entitlements rather than national security.
It’s making me quite glad I’m middle aged.

I meant to say, Blessed Good Friday and Happy Easter to you as well, HOB. After church Sunday we’re taking my parents 2.5 hours north for dinner at my sister and bil’s house. He’s a gourmet cook so I’m always glad when I don’t have to cook for him :-)

There is some truth to teachers not marking errors because they don't know grammar. For instance, I once had another English teacher interrupt my class and wanting me to tell what was correct about a grammar problem that had come up in her class.
And then some teachers are just too lazy to go to the trouble of marking errors. (I've actually heard some of them admit this.) Some don't do so because they fear parents complaining to the principal for giving their children low grades for "unimportant things" like grammar. (I often heard the complaint about me as being "too hard".)
Also due somewhat to remnants from the Contract with America and some of the Republicans working hard in Congress the past few years.
And if Hillary gets in office.....

Whatever they're made of, you are correct about 'what' they are.
Parents like the ones you described get on my last nerve. Do they really think they’re doing their kids any kind of favor by trying to get teachers to be more lenient or are they just lazy? Maybe they should remember they won’t always be around to help their kids write resumes and reports and that grammar does count in the corporate world.
My dad had to hire some low paying help once and he told stories at the dinner table about the resumes. It was rather sad but one was pretty funny and I’ve never forgotten it. Under the line that sames “Sex”, some wanna-be employee wrote “as often as possible”. LOL
